No one has started one yet so I decided to start one.
Chance me:
HS GPA: 3.1
College: 4.0 in a regular state university (UCF). Might drop to a 3.92 after this semester
Current major: Economics. Major if accepted: International Economics

EC’s:
SGA Justice: I Do parking violation appeals, sit on the Constitutionality Review Committee along with the director of student conduct, and on the common reading committee, which decides the required reading for incoming Freshmen. I was also part of the interview/selection process for the Judicial Council’s mentorship program, and will soon have a mentee.
Veterans and Elderly Awareness Director of VUCF (My school’s volunteering agency): I dropped this position last week because of a schedule conflict, but I was basically a volunteer coordinator/ event planner.
Intern at a successful business litigation law firm: Helped them digitalize their files, do some accounting work, and other clerical tasks.
Alternative Break Program volunteer: Spent a week helping at a homeless shelter.
Have 300+ community service hours (100 in hs, 200+ in college).

I will soon have a board position in a local non-profit dedicated to providing clean linens to organizations that provide housing for terminally ill children.
My major issue is that I have not completed Calc. 1 nor 2. My school offers 2 weird classes that are a combination of calculus and statistics to prepare econ majors for upper level classes, which dumb me decided to take instead of the regular math pathway. Do you think this could be a deal breaker? If required, I’d have to take trig next semester, pre-cal over the summer, and start my junior year taking calc. 1.
High School GPA: 3.71, taking AP IB courses
ACT: 29 (English 26, Math 28, Reading 33, Science 34) and retaking, focusing on Math and English Improvements
SAT: 1270 and retaking
College: In first semester, on pace for 3.8-3.9 at Indiana University
Major: Currently Finance in Kelley, but applying as poly sci

Track- 3 year varsity athlete- 3 time All City team, captain
Special Olympics coach- 3 years
President of Young Republicans Club
President of Service Organization

Biggest issue is taking the rest of the pre reqs. Since I’m applying for a different major than I currently am, I’ll be taking summer classes this year, regardless of acceptance. Taking calc and finite for sure, as well as natural science classes. Anyone have any suggestions I can do to better myself or ballpark my acceptance chances?? Thanks
I’ll be applying as a sophomore for Fall 2016 as well
High School GPA: 3.9, with some AP courses, Also i was Salutatorian of my graduating class
ACT: 22 (English 22, Math 24, Reading 20, Science 20) I talked to Bob Mundy about retaking it but he told me it wasn’t necessary but I’m very skeptical about that advice because those scores are lower than previously admitted students
College: In first semester, on pace for 3.4-3.6 at State University of New York at Oswego ( I’m in the midst of finals week)
Major: Currently Business Administration, but I’m applying to ND as a sophomore and as a Political Science Major
College ECs: 3 business clubs , 2 government clubs , and debate team, i also volunteer at the soup kitchen in NYC
High School ECs:
Treasurer Student government 2 years
FBLA member
National Honor Society
4 years of basketball (JV and Varsity)
Interned at Morgan Stanley
Intern at Ernst & Young
5th place in NFTE New York Regional Business plan competition
and volunteered at local community center for 3-4 years
I have gotten my courses approved by bob mundy for both the first and second semester so I have mirrored the first year perfectly
Biggest issue is taking the ACT! because the majority of the students have anywhere from a 29-36!
Can you chance me?
High School Stats:

High School EC’s:

Other stuff but who really cares about high school anymore
Essays are definitely going to be my strong suit, sending in a dance supplement as well, and have my recommendations.
I am just having a minor mental break down because I made a C+ in Calculus (which I took for a challenge, to necessary to my major at all) and I am like asking myself why…because every thing else are A’s like pls stop.
But good luck everyone and chance me would be hype but not required.
@cmartin12 I just saw you on the Vandy one!! Good luck to you. Your profile looks solid to me. The fact that your GPA was brought down by only one C+ might be a good thing to be honest. Personally, I rather have a kid with 1 C+ than with 3 B-. You definitely have the profile strength on your HS section to be able to transfer as a sophomore too. As to retaking the ACT I would do so. I mean what do you have to lose?
Good luck to everyone and keep us posted on any progress!
Community Service: BLUE Missions, America Developing Smiles, & my own non-profit

*College Info
Current College: Emory University
GPA: 3.78
College EC’s: Ngambika (step team w/ community service background), HerCampus, Feminists in Action, and the same community service groups from HS
*I have all the pre-reqs except for the 2 science courses, which I would be willing to take over the summer and I plan to say that on my app
*Essays have me nervous because I feel like they’re going to put a lot of emphasis on them; I’m having trouble trying to explain my reasons for transferring to ND/ how much I love this school without sounding whiny (but, this is the only school I am applying to…It’s either transferring to ND or staying at Emory)
*Ideally, I would transfer into Mendoza, but I would settle for a spot in the A&L college
*Let me know what you guys think or if you have any tips/ info that might help. Good luck to everyone!
To be honest, Emory is a really great school - it has strong academics, amazing professors, great location, etc. but it lacks in certain areas that I give a lot of value to - it doesnt really have a typical college feel and, unfortunately, it does not have any school spirit at all. Academically, I have no issues w Emory, but I cant see myself staying here for 4 years. What I’m looking for in ND is a place I can feel at home and be happy for the next 3 years, which I don’t see happening w me at Emory. If youre looking for a unorthodox college experience w a liberal setting, Emory is definitely for you - it’s just not for me @tina23
Hi everyone! I didn’t apply to ND the first time round, but now that I know more about what I want in a college, it’s definitely a top choice!
High School Stats:
GPA: 3.5 (very competitive HS with great ND relationship)
32 ACT (36 on reading/English, mid/high 20s on sci/math)
5 5’s on APs, few 4s and 3s
Loads of extracurriculars/leadership/volunteering, studied abroad
College: well-regarded liberal arts, NY state.
GPA: 3.7, brought down by a B in a core requirement. Am technically a sophomore here, brought in 27 AP credit hours, but am applying to be a sophomore at ND.
Extracurriculars: president of a few student government organizations, nothing super major.
No reason to think my letters of rec would be bad.
Major: International Relations/East Asian Studies
Haven’t completed my essays yet, though I’ll be mentioning the lack of diversity, community and school spirit at my current institution.
I’m concerned about prereqs since my school makes us jump straight into major coursework. I haven’t taken any math or science, but live close enough to ND that I’d try to take it there over the summer.
Just curious, when did you guys start working on your transfer applications? I didn’t get in and I might transfer to ND as a sophomore. I would like to have a time frame. I also need to retake the SAT. I have 1960. 4.0 GPA.
@Fiona1997 So I was in your shoes about a year ago as well. Notre Dame was my dream school, but it just didn’t work out first time around. I will give you my time frame, but I just want to give you a piece of advice first: pick your close second and give it a chance. I’m sure you’ve heard this, but I didn’t follow it. I ended up at a great school that I did not chose, met some great people, but it’s just not working out. My ultimate reason for deciding to transfer was that my current school just doesn’t have my program. My decision to transfer was made about three days before the deadline. I would not recommend this in the slightest. I did do it, so it is possible, but I don’t think I made a quality application that I would have made if I had put a few months into it. I would recommend evaluating how you feel about where you are around Christmas break, after the first semester. If you’re still dead set on Notre Dame, then open up an application. Applying won’t hurt anyone, but going into your new school with the mindset of transferring could hurt you and close you off to some amazing opportunities. Just remember if you do apply after a rough first semester, things do get better second semester and people start to get a little closer. So keep an open mind, and good luck in wherever you go.
@flyingface I haven’t received a link yet, the only recent communication I’ve had with ND is an email stating my app was complete and they are awaiting my final grades from the current semester.
I haven’t received any email or anything telling me my application is complete…but I’m pretty sure I’ve turned in everything except my final grades Is this normal? Did anyone receive any type of email or confirmation?
