Hey Everyone! I know it’s a little bit early but I saw no one made a transfer thread for this year yet! :))))
A little bit about myself:
I am a freshman electrical engineering student in California with a 4.0 GPA involved in choir at my schools Newman center. I really wanted to go to Notre Dame last year but was unfortunately rejected so I am trying again!
I also have a 1510 on the new SAT and had a 4.1 in high school.
Anyways, here we can just communicate about the process and help each other out
@DDHH2017 I remember you from last year, as I was an active participant in the ND admissions threads in recent years. I got admitted to ND this past Dec in the REA round for the class that will enter this Fall.
With respect to ND transfers, I don’t really know all that much about the process at ND, but certainly wishing you good luck as you try again. I know ND fills a lot of the sophomore transfer slots with the students who do the “Gateway Program” thru Holy Cross, the college across the road from ND. I would assume, however, that the sophomore transfer route for those entering from another 4-year university is a different process than the Gateway transfer one. Hopefully some non-Gateway ND transfers see this thread and can share their experience.
I do have another (more selfish) reason for responding here. On another thread, I saw you’re currently at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. That’s a great school, and one I’ve applied to and awaiting a decision on (I’m a Calif resident). Anyway, given some recent developments for my family, it turns out that I’ll be attending an in-state school this Fall rather than ND or the other privates I’m still waiting on. Is there something about Cal Poly that’s making you want to transfer? I don’t want to hijack your ND transfer thread, so feel free to DM me if that’s better. I’d value your opinion / input as a current student who’s excelling at Cal Poly yet is looking to transfer for something other than academics.
Oh no @GeronimoAlpaca! I was wondering why you had not been on this forum for some time. So sorry you won’t be joining my DS and others here this fall. You were such a great expert contributor to this community while we were anxiously awaiting news. I just want to wish you well wherever you end up. You have some great options in your state.
@DDHH2017 If you wanted to get a sense about transfer stats for Notre Dame, the school updated its Common Data Set to show last year’s entering class.
If you go to Section D of the CDS, you can see the stats for number of transfer student applicants and acceptances, etc. I think the Gateway Program enrolls something like 65 to 75 students each year, so you’d probably want to exclude those Gateway transfers from the overall transfer applicants and acceptances, as I think almost all Gateway students transfer in if they have a good year at Holy Cross College.
Anyway, not sure if this will be much help, but just thought I’d mention it. Best of luck with the transfer.
Hi, I’m also applying to transfer as a sophomore. On the application checklist, it requires us to attach a “final college grade report”. Do we just attach our final college transcript from after the semester or is this some sort of form?
@rpsee3 Is an official college transcript required or can you just attach a copy for reporting purposes?
I would be surprised if Notre Dame would not want to see an official college transcript at some point during the transfer application process. Best of luck and success!
Hi everyone! I am a Freshman applying as a Fall 2019 transfer to Notre Dame as well. Currently, I am a Biology major hoping to switch into Environmental Sciences, since it is not offered at the university I am attending right now.
Here are my stats:
High School GPA: 4.09
College GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1120 (Weakest portion of my application)
Do you guys think that my chances of being accepted may be slim? I also participated in several extracurriculars throughout high school and college, took part in a research fellowship, and I am considered a minority from the Pacific Islands.
Thanks in advance, and best of luck to those of you who applied! (-:
@boxofth0ughts Your SAT certainly won’t help, but I really don’t think it’ll hurt you that much. You seem very hardworking, and Notre Dame as far as I know looks for the whole person. As well, in an admissions chat, they say kids with lower test scores who apply as transfers with high grades have as good a chance as anyone. I think you’re in good shape
@boxofth0ughts Omg where in the pacific islands are you from? I’m also from one! I’m a sophomore at my current institution and looking to transfer for Fall 2019.
My SAT is also the weakest part of my application but I believe for me and other junior transfers, they won’t be looking at it much not sure how much weight it has on sophomore transfers.
