Notre Dame finishes 7 in between Flordia and Wisconsin. Proves that there's more beyond football.

nice! yeah i'm really excited to go to basketball games too next year... not just fball games!!! i think we can make a run...

definitly... Ill cheer for Women's water polo... as long as that ND emblem is on there haha

Jvon, are you a little suprised by Florida's number 6 ranking? I was, they took home two of the most popular championships... basketball and football. I guess they were just mediocre in the other sports though, and that can def happen in teh SEC.

there are so many sports and for the ranking to be real they got to account for every sport equally... think of how many NCAA sports there are that we have NO IDEA about!

Im a student in an American school outside the USA territory, my father studied in Notre Dame, therefore im looking forward to study there. I am a great soccer player and I have already made contact with people in Notre Dame as well as my father. I know soccer isnt the "great" sport there, but I have received a mail from my father with the following information. Notre Dame's soccer team is ranked in the top ten in the nation
for soccer this year and just beat the number one team (UCLA)
on Friday by a score of 2 to 1. So, I think it is safe to say that soccer means something in Notre Dame bounds. I was tolled that the season ends in december, im getting things straigthen up to get my skills evaluated. Im 16 years old, and im looking forward to help, and develop the idea that soccer is a great sport which may develop great succes to many students like me, and i want to do this with the help of Notre Dame, and in the campus of Notre Dame University.

I dont know why people have no idea about other sports besides basketball and football..dont act like all students dont know about non-revenue sports, because id like to think that sports other than the revenue ones to count (i know they count to me). UF doesnt have nearly as many varsity sports as ND, so it would make sense that they wouldnt be ranked as high as you would think.

The Pac-10 was strongly represented.

hey dvanmeerbeke don't discount the Jesuit schools if you are a good soccer player. Seattle U. has an excellent men's team; University of Portland (CSC like ND) has a national champ women's soccer team, and Santa Clara U. (Jesuit) has strong soccer programs for both men and women.

Pac-10 and ACC.

These conferences have great soccer programs. Then you also have schools like Rutgers, St. Louis, St. John's, Michigan, Indiana, SMU, etc.

You get the point.

Soccer is one of NDs premier sports. In fact football and basketball aren't top national programs here. They are second tier and football looks even worse this year. Our best programs are Men's and Women's Soccer, Hockey, Fencing, Men's Cross Country, Women's Lacrosse and Women's Rowing. Those programs finish (more or less) every season (hockey only recently) in the top ten and garner most of our Director's Cup points. Other sports might get more pub, but those are the premier teams at ND.

Men's lacrosse is really good too. We made a tournament run last year and were the major upset in the first round. I bet we get to the semi's at least, but I feel championship, with Joey Kemp our goalie, one of the best in the nation, and Will Yeatman, our attackman who was the best freshman in NCAA last year.

Yeatman is a fellow San Diegan, so I pull for him. I think he also had a catch in the football game last week.
