Notre Dame Leadership Seminar 2018

@gitajp Thanks! I feel like I may have conveyed my passion/interests through my app, but I’m not totally sure, especially because my activities don’t entirely convey it (my main EC I have only been doing one year).

@Findthejoy I have the same nerves right now. I hope my passion shines through.

Hello! I applied last year to the Science, Ethics and Responsibility seminar. I was not accepted.
If you do not receive an acceptance, don’t worry! It is NOT necessarily indicative of your chances at getting into Notre Dame for undergraduate studies. I was admitted REA this year after being rejected for NDLS.
Best of luck to everyone! I have heard fabulous things about this program.

@collegegirl6789 Thanks for posting that. If you don’t mind sharing, what did you end up doing last summer? I have been looking around for similar summer programs as back-ups since I’m worried about my chances. I think my relevant ECs are unique and my academics and recommendations strong for Global Studies, but I definitely do not fit any type of “diverse” (geography, race, religion) profile. Thanks.

@RFM1617 I did not do any other summer programs last year in place of NDLS. The draw for me was that it was all expenses paid; most other programs are pretty expensive. I also believe I was a strong applicant, but like you I didn’t meet any of those “diversity” qualifications.

Hi guys! I applied to sciences ethics and responsibilities. I am curious what my chances are based on my stats and extracurriculars. I am a white catholic female in the mid atlantic so idk if that will set back my chances.

My stats are:
1510 on SAT, 22/24 on essay
4.0 unweighted, 96.2 on 100 point scale
11 rutgers university college credits towards dynamics of health care, anatomy and physiology 1, anatomy and physiology 2
attended georgetown medical institute last summer

Extracurriculars:
National Honor Society - 11th grade
Health Occupations Students of America - 11th grade
Fundraiser head for Red Cross Chapter - 11th grade

@gkm317 your stats certainly look a lot better than mine! Honestly, I don’t think that your lack of diversity will set you back a ton, because of that.

@1t1a11 I hope so! Best of luck to you on getting in!

@gkm317 yeah I would like to echo what @1t1a11 said. I think your stats are up to par with what they are looking for. Good luck!

Hey, doesn’t anyone know when we will hear back? Do you think the week of March 16th mean next week or the week after?

I got an email last year on March 17th at 7pm eastern time

Hi guys! I was in the Science, Ethics, and Responsibility seminar last year, and it was HANDS DOWN one of the best experiences of my life. I’m so excited for those of you who get to experience it this year, and for those of you who don’t get to, please remember that this program is much more selective than the university itself as people have been saying. I will most likely be attending ND in the fall, and the sheer amount of the intelligence and pure passion that was at NDLS was something extraordinary. To calm your nerves, many of my friends in that program had SAT’s near a 1300 range. They are looking for passionate and vibrantly unique individuals and that might not be through test scores! ESSAYS are probably the most important thing, arguably, so don’t get too caught up in others’ stats. If you have any questions about anything feel free to PM me!

BTW my stats were ok 1410 PSAT; 4.3 GPA; nothing special on my resume but showed passion and my true self in my essays, and I believe that’s what got me through. Admittance to ND afterward is basically guaranteed, except for perhaps one or two people every couple years. On a side note, there were people with 29 ACTS all the way to plenty of 36’s, so again, not based too much on scores and stats.

One week until decisions come out!

@Jt128b Do you think we will find out next Friday? Website still says “week of 16th”

@RFM1617 I have a feeling that they will come out on that Friday. If I am not mistaken, last years decisions came on a Friday as well.

This is speculation but I would guess that they come out on the 17th based on what happened last year.

Does anyone know roughly how many people apply? I know they accept about 100, but I don’t know the actual acceptance rate.

@mmb333 I remember reading somewhere that there are more than 800 applicants per year. Not sure how valid that is nor do I remember the source. Sorry!

I saw that too in past threads … something like 850-950 applications for 100 spots. If anyone gets information about the number of entrants this year and/or whether we will get decisions on Friday the 16th or some other date, would you mind posting here?

Just wondering if we can still access the application we submitted as I can’t see it anymore on the application page? In previous years people seemed to get notification of acceptance or otherwise on that page under their application status in addition to receiving an email?
