I've been accepted to the College of Science at ND and the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at USC, intending to major in biology. (Don't know if I'll be premed or not) Other than a slight advantage in academics ND doesn't have much over USC.. no vibrant city, bad weather.. But has that strong community sense to it. These are my final two college choices-- any input?

Notre Dame. I’m an ND fan, but I’ll probably apply to both schools, because there is a good chance I will get rejected from ND.

Both are good schools, ND has a slightly better reputation in the entire country. Everywhere except SoCal maybe.

See how the FA packages stack up too. They will probably be pretty similar, but you never know.

Notre Dame by far. USC is good in some areas, but ND is strong in most.

Oh my god, why would anyone want to go to Notre Dame? Dude go to USC, you’ll have a much better college experience. **** prestige or whatever.

Our S had the same final two schools to pick from. He chose Notre Dame and is in his second year. We are from a nice area in CA- so giving that up that to move to South Bend, Indiana was something to think about. He has never given USC a second thought (OK maybe in January!)

Everything they say about ND is true- the alumni connection started working immediately and both summer jobs last year mentioned the school to him. This year’s summer job interviews have indicated some connection to ND. The students are very grounded and kids appear to make lifelong friends. We are not a devout catholic, rich or a super jock family.

USC is fine. It’s just not Notre Dame.

I’m still deliberating Thanks for the advice, everyone

bus52, what does your son say about the level of difficulty in academics at Notre Dame?
