Actually I have probably close to 185-190 hours of Volunteer work
@mk2568 It’s tough to say, because your profile is good, and yet in the REA round, other posters with stats similar to yours or better did get deferred. Based on the REA decisions thread, it looks like ND remains very sensitive about test scores, so the 1430 SAT won’t really help you. The strength of your recs, your essays, and all your volunteer work will be key. Any chance that as a 4-year varsity swimmer that your times are good enough that you’d want to reach out to the ND Swim coach Aaron Bell and inquire about trying to walk-on? That could be a bit of a hook if the swimming coach was receptive to your outreach. Good luck to you, by the way.
I am not going to swim in college(my times aren’t even close to good enough and it is a huge commitment), and thank you for your input! I really appreciate it!
hey i’m a current notre dame student and a lot of people with higher scores and similar extracurriculars apply so i think you should try to make your application stand out more
Thank you! I decided to take the February ACT because ND accepts it for regular decision(and I want to make my application stand out more). What score do you think I should shoot for, and how much would a 33-34 help my chances of admission?(My SAT score is below average)
Ideally, you’d get a 35. A 34 would be an improvement, while I don’t see 33 doing you much good. All IMHO.
I agree with @BasicOhioParent. Your UW GPA is on the lower end so you need your test scores to boost your resume a little. I don’t mean this negatively. You need to do some serious studying for the ACTs. Go online, find a program and dedicate 15-20 hours this weekend. My daughter got a 33 on her first test and then a 35 after studying the areas that were lower for her. It is very doable but you need to put the work in and quickly.
Thank you both!
I will definitely shoot for a 35!
