How do you know, @crackalackin?
Why do you think it will be Tuesday? @crackalackin
So 19th then?
Yup it is the 19th according to the portal. Also, never knew this, but middle 50% was 1410 - 1540 thank goodness
Well it is good to know when the wait will be over. The waiting has not been fun.
Thanks so much for saying this in the chat:) I didnât know it was in the portal. How did you find out about the average test scores?
its on their website @acpv24 â youâre welcome!
@Acortez122, are you sure those stats arenât from last yearâs class?
Has Notre Dame sent out Reilly Weekend invites yet for RD? I havenât had access to my email for a while so just wondering
Those stats are from their website directly
What baffles me is how Northeastern(top 47) has a higher SAT middle 50% than ND(T20)
@Acortez122, I see those, but they are from last yearâs class. I donât think they release the information for this yearâs class before decisions are released.
@Acortez122 Grades and standardized test scores are only one aspect of the admission review, and since it is a holistic process they look at a lot of different factors such as ECâs, leadership positions, special circumstances, etc. If a student had say a 1400 SAT score but battled cancer and started their own business, they would likely be accepted and ultimately attend at a more selective school such as ND as compared to a studious student who did nothing else. The top students are involved in a lot of other extracurricular projects and endeavors that make them stand out, and since those activities take a lot of time perhaps they lost out on time to study, compared to a student who stayed home all summer and studied everyday. A small difference in scores isnât going to matter in the grand picture. The more selective the school is, the more they tend to consider your ECâs and passions and how that will contribute to the well roundedness of the school, and not just quantitative numbers such as SAT scores.
@Acortez122
On Northeasternâs student profile (2018), they report mid-50% SAT for ADMITTED students. Notre Dameâs student profile (2018) reports the mid-50% SAT for ENROLLED students. Those stats canât be compared. Apples to oranges.
@thstud517 Understood, but the scores and GPA play a huge role in the holistic process if a candidate does not have those circumstances. But yes, the process is holistic and anyone with great recs or ECs or essays can outweigh the score âstandardâ
@scholardad - where do we see the Admitted stats?
Just checked the portal and it changed to include the March 19 release date. Does anyone know when that happened?
Do you have a link for the portal, canât seem to find it? Thanks
Good news that there is a D Day pre-announcement for RD this cycle! March 19th is right within the expected time frame, in fact. Best of luck to All!
@Acortez122 In order to compare apples to apples between Northeastern and ND, you would need to look at CDS for both schools which reports stats on âenrolledâ students.
Notre Dame:
2018-19
SAT mid 50%: 1400-1550
ACT mid 50%: 33-35
2017-18
SAT mid 50%: 1370-1520
ACT mid 50%: 32-34
Northeastern:
2018-19
Not published as of today
2017-18
SAT mid 50%: 1360-1520
ACT mid 50%: 32-34
So looking at apples to apples, one would need to examine the stats from 2017-18, which shows both schools to be relatively equal in standardized test scores. But as others have mentioned, the standardized test scores of enrolled students are only one measure used when evaluating and ranking schools. There must be some other very appealing aspects about ND which pushed their rank so much higher than Northeasternâs. It should be interesting to see what Northeasternâs 2018-19 stats show once they are published.
I also find it quite interesting to see how much of a jump ND saw in the standardized test scores in just one year.
Ahh I see thank you!
I received an email from the financial aid department about additional documents needed. Is that a good sign or does that mean anything?
