Notre Dame rejection = no chance for Georgetown?

Hi, I was recently rejected from a Notre Dame. Does this mean I'm hopeless for Gtown? My sats were 2280, top 10%, extracurricular a were varied and exhaustive, two pretty good revs, solid interview etc... I know it's still tough to get in, but should I give up all hope?

Not at all! Your stats are fantastic! I got rejected from Notre Dame, too, and I was really shocked. Based on your stats, it’s shocking that they rejected you, too! Don’t lose hope for Georgetown! Every school is different when it comes to admissions, they all want all sorts of kids. Don’t worry yet (:

I guess it was just in mind that perhaps Notre Dame was easier… Probably all sorts of arguments could be made for that idea! Thanks for the encouragement, I need it haha

Each school may have different geographic considerations, and “soft” criteria like that, so you can still get into Georgetown.

You will notice, however, all the posts on CC from people with top stats who have already gotten rejected at schools that one would have thought they would have been admitted to.

I’m having the same thought as the OP.

I got accepted into Notre Dame, but I got deferred by Georgetown. College admissions in general are pretty mindless, rejection at one school certainly doesn’t close the door to anothrr

Every school is different. for example I was rejected at Uwash and wait-listed at GW but accepted into WM out of state!!!
