Notre Dame Restrictive Early Action 2022

@DDHH2017 How did you hear that decisions could start coming out today?

@DDHH2017 How do you know that? And to everyone: has anyone gotten an email with instructions on how to access the online decisions webpage?

@howdy99 No one has received instructions on how to setup the portal yet.

@howdy99 Also, my bad. The decisions should come out on the 11th, but we really do not know.

I really hope it is the 11th and not the 17th lol

@sbe2934 I don’t see why it wouldn’t be the 11th…

I applied REA with a bio major and premed track

I think we’ll get the portal login information on Wednesday 12/6 because the Wednesday before the release date was when the portal login information was sent out last year, but hey, this is all just speculation.

Hi guys! I’m applying as a Physics major. I attended the Leadership Seminars last year, so I already have a portal to the application. Prior to today, I wasn’t able to login with my ID, but today it was updated and I was able to login; the website looks like the one from last year. This probably means that the login info will be sent out very soon with your ID and everything. I haven’t received an email yet either, but I was just speculating. Wednesday and next Monday sound about right as the notification dates.

I applied Early Action as an English major. Good luck everyone!

My son applied REA for Mechanical Engineering. He was planning on RD bc his scores aren’t top 75% but an admissions counselor advised him to apply REA…now that the date is approaching I’m second guessing if he should have applied REA.

@My5Kiddos At least your son has the potential to be deferred to the regular admission round since he applied REA, which wouldn’t be possible if he did RD. I know several kids from my high school who were deferred then accepted

Hi all! I remember reading through the whole REA thread last year at this time. Crazy that this year my app’s in the mix. I applied as an American Studies major. Hoping for the best!

Thank you, ak9800, that is what we are hoping for.

“now that the date is approaching I’m second guessing if he should have applied REA.”

Kiddos – You have nothing to worry about. Folks way overthink this one.

If an ND rep said to apply REA, then that’s fine to do. Unless the kid’s application would be significantly stronger later on (new/better grades, test scores, essays, awards) a kid’s eventual outcome is almost always going to be the same regardless of whether they apply early or late. And getting feedback (of any kind) in mid-December is a big help in moving your kid’s process along.

Last year ND accepted 24% of the REA apps, deferred 15% and rejected 61%. But at the end of the day after RD, ND had a 19% accept rate for the 2021 class. If your app didn’t make it into the top 39% at the REA stage (which admittedly is a stronger pool), odds are that you were never going to make it into the top 19% ultimately.

I applied REA for Management Consulting. @kitkat2018 I completely understand how you feel!

I applied REA as a gender studies major.

I applied REA for pre-med/pre-professional studies.

Does anyone know if ND will tell us our majors in the acceptance letter?

At ND, you don’t have to declare a major until sophomore year, and many, many students change their minds, sometimes more than once, so no, they don’t reference major on the acceptance letter. The only exception is if you have applied for pre-admit to Mendoza. If you are admitted to Mendoza, your letter will reflect that.
