Notre Dame Summer Scholars

I was recently rejected from this year's Notre Dame Summer Scholars. I was accepted to the program last year, however I'm puzzled at how this happened. I really want to go there for undergrad, does anyone know how this might affect my admission? I have 700s in Critical Reading, Math, and Writing, and have a 3.5 in the most rigorous course curriculum at my school. Good extracurriculars, any opinions?

Did you put down alternate tracks of study you would accept if you didn’t get into first choice for Summer Scholars?

When did you get your letter? And when was it postmarked and which state do you live in?

That sucks that you didn’t get in this year. Did you attend last year? Maybe they didn’t like that you applied last year got in and didn’t attend.

WestPaND- Yes, however I did apply for the two most popular track choices.

CG1994- I got my letter yesterday, postmarked April 15. I did attend last year and it continues to baffle me since my achievements, SAT, and GPA all improved from last year.

Maybe they wanted to give it to someone else who had never been.

FightingIrishFan,

In your case, especially since you attended last year, I would call or email to find out what circumstances lead to this years non-invitation. You could ask what percentage of returning SS applicants get that second summer invitation. The director of SS was very open and informative when we met her the summer before last.

FightingIrishFan - what state do you live in? My son has still not received word from ND re: his summer scholars application. We live in Washington. Maybe he will receive it Monday. Sorry to hear you did not make it this summer.

Also - you mentioned “the two most popular tracks”…what are those?
