Notre Dame Undergrad Question about Med School

Hi, i am a freshman at the University of Notre Dame. I am on the Pre-Med track. After first semester I had a 3.31 GPA. I am not upset by this GPA but i know i can do better. I also understand that Notre Dame is much tougher than most schools, not to brag. I was wondering what my goals should be to get into medical school. I was thinking about Loyola med school, Indiana University South Bend med school (right here at Notre Dame). Also, are there any other med schools around chicago that would be good for me? I am planning on majoring in Arts and Letters Pre-Professional. Any advice with that? I heard there are more acceptances from non-science majors since med schools want diversity. Give me any advice you have and med school options. I am thinking about Orthopedic surgery/Sports medicine.

Chicago schools: University of Chicago

In the nearby area: St. Louis University, Washington U-STL, UNebraska, Creighton.

Thanks for the quick response. I didn't clarify that I was really looking for some place within commuting distance of the Chicago suburbs. I was planning on living at home and driving to med school. I go to ND so that would be the one place i would consider getting an apartment of my own.

I think there's also University of Illionois-Chicago and Rosalind Franklin of Chicago, as well another Chicago school. Check out: www.mdapplicants.com to get a better picture of who's applying and stats, as well as a list of all the schools.

I think you have a good chance at some of the medical schools, if you do well on the MCAT and have good ECs...good luck.
