Notre Dame vs Georgetown

Hey you guys! So. I was 99% certain I would be attending ND this coming year, as you can see from my name. But I just attended the GAAP weekend at GU and fell in love with it too. I know. I get around. But I will be attending either business school, but also just want your take on the atmosphere and local area, the women, the parties, the athletics (I thought I couldn't live without ND football, but this weekend made me feel I could) and also the career opportunities. I understand there is bias, which is what I kind of want because I want to know what people truly think, but if you could also be objective that would rock too. Thanks in advance!

Also, I am Protestant. I thought the more catholic ND wouldn’t be an issue, but I also feel I’d be on the outside looking in a lot. Thoughts? I want my faith to be able to grow, but in my way.

@irish,

congrats on the great options. I think you cannot go wrong with either school, but it sounds like your gut is telling you something. Follow your instincts and you cannot go wrong. I think you know the answer. Congrats again!!

^^^^I totally agree. First, congratulations. Second, both schools are wonderful and they are very equivalent academically. Go to the school you felt most comfortable at and most excited about. There is no right or wrong answer to this one.

Georgetown v/s Notre Dame

Georgetown:

Georgetown’s connection to Washington DC is what makes it exciting and unique. DC is a very international city with great job opportunities. It has almost everything: historical monuments, memorials and landmarks, the smithsonian and tons of other museums, art galleries, concerts, restaurants, night clubs, bars, theaters, cultural events, sporting events, music festivals, parades (St Patrick’s Day, etc) and so much more. There is always something to do.

Unfortunately G-town lacks the tight-knit community that is very unique to Notre Dame.

Notre Dame:

Best Business school in the country!!!

tons of school spirit.

football

It really is in the middle of NOWHERE.

A rural, isolated campus helps create a strong sense of community which helps cultivate deep, lasting friendships that last a lifetime

parietals

extremely homogenous

I might have to make the same choice in a few days (waiting to hear back from Gtown, already accepted into Notre Dame), but I’m applying to the SFS at Georgetown instead of the business school. As far as undergrad business is concerned, ND has the edge in terms of employment opportunities and overall prestige.

As far as overall campus vibe, Georgetown is definitely more diverse racially and religiously. I’m Catholic, so maybe my perception is different, but Notre Dame seemed very welcoming as far as non-Catholic are concerned, but it’s definitely more religious than Georgetown.
