Notre Dame Waitlist 2022

I tried to call my officer on Thursday but I was told he was out of the office until Monday and was given his voicemail instead… So it is quite possible that your admissions counselor is out of the office too and you will get the call when he or she returns (I’m praying that is the case for me)

Just as an example – my daughter was waitlisted at another school last year. She didn’t receive the final email informing her she didn’t get a spot in the class until May 22nd. My understanding of the wait list, in general, is that schools offer their open spots in a “first round” and give a specified response time to those students. Let’s say it’s a week (as an example). Some of the students in that round will accept the spot. But some will have already moved onto whatever college they committed to, especially if they ended up getting scholarship money from that school. Those spots would then be available to offer to a second round of students. So in any scenario here – whether the process has officially begun or not – I would not assume it’s completely over. I still would not count on it, because it was always just a chance. But personally, if it were me, I would not believe it was over unless my child either received an email from ND saying so, or they spoke with their regional rep and heard that info first hand from admissions.

Again, this is just my opinion based on our experience w a different school, but I wanted to offer it in case it makes sense and calms any nerves here. Good luck to all of you that wherever your kids end up that they are happy and successful!!

hello i was just as surprised that my daughter got the call so early. anyway i do not want to prolong this matter . if people do not want to believe that is perfectly fine. I totally understand all the frustrations (as we were in the same situation) anyway, it will be monday tomorrow (people can confirm)and hopefully more calls will come out. all they said was the confirmation deadline, and that her acceptance package will be in the mail. all we were told - 20 spots were initially opened.

good luck to all who are waiting for that call and we pray that you get accepted. if anyone wants more info, feel free to pm.

happy sunday to all and God Bless!

@irishmom2x I’m just curious… what were your daughters stats/ec’s? I’m trying to figure out where I would stand in the ranking haha

I wish everyone waiting the best. Go Irish!!

@irishfan21 waiting list is not ranked by GPA/Test Scores etc. and ND says as much in admission faq’s. At this stage, Notre Dame and other universities are seeking to complete their First-Year classes and they may be on the look out for specific class members to complete and round up the new class. Best of luck!

I just got off the waitlist last Friday.I’m extremely happy!!! Best of luck everyone!

@sbfreshmn Congratulations! <:-P Go Irish! :slight_smile:

Presuming that Decision Date for students, admitted from the waitlist in the first round, is May 14th and folks are now waiting for confirmation by mail and subsequent Financial Aid information by e-mail, it should take at least until end of this/beginning of next week for Notre Dame Admissions to decide on how many 2022 class seats to open up during a second round of waitlist admission. Some students of the rumored twenty admitted in the first round might have decided to pass on the offer during the phone call with the AO and a few additional offers for those seats might possibly go out this week, yet most likely the majority of students and their parents will reasonably decide to review FA before making a final decision. The low number of first wave offers from the waiting list is somewhat surprising, though, and does point towards a high RD yield rate, as has been the case for REA as well.

Hi. I have been following this message board since I was waitlisted. I got the call Friday around 3:00 EST and was admitted. I was crying and could not remember all the details except that the deadline to accept is May 15th. I got an update on my portal for Admitted Students. Congratulations to those who got off the waitlist.

I am so happy and hope the rest of you get the call too. God answers prayers.

@appleusr Congratulations!!!

@hpcsa Assuming that it was indeed only 20 waitlist offers that went out last Friday, I’m not all that surprised if 20 was in fact the number that went out in the first wave. According to Notre Dame’s CDS filings, 2 times in the last 5 years, ND has admitted 0 off the waitlist. On 2 other occasions, ND admitted 92 and 85 off the waitlist. One other year, I couldn’t find the waitlist data on the CDS at all.

Given how competitive admissions was this year, it wouldn’t surprise me if ND’s yield on the RD admits crept up a bit. Certainly 20 is within the plausible range of somewhere between 0 - 90, and the lower end of that range might be more likely given hyper-competitive admissions for the class of 2022.

@hpcsa Thank you!

I got admitted from waitlist on Thursday too. However, after the call, I never receive any email confirmation or portal update. When did you got the portal update?

@nd100000 I got the portal update the next day.

Thank you @appleusr

Did anyone else not receiving an update? Should I email my regional counselor?

Congratulations as well @nd100000, and yes I would strongly advise to follow up with the AO you spoke with on the phone or otherwise call the general ND Admissions phone number. You only have until beginning of next week to sort everything out and don’t want to miss this opportunity. Admissions will be glad to hear from you.

Hey! i got in last friday too right after school. I cried alot during the entirety of the call lol. I didn’t get any emails, but my portal for confirm.nd got updated already and I just got an email from ups that im receiving a package tomorrow! Can’t believe it!

This is the reply I received from my AO “Thank you for your email. We are hoping to notify student regarding their waitlist status by the end of the week. I appreciate your patience.”
So if the confirmation date for the first wave is May 15th, it means I’m out. Congratulations to those admitted, and good luck to those who is still running by May 11.

I believe the number of students to whom they offered Gateway is higher next year also? I could be wrong but thought I remembered reading the class would be closer to 75 students next year, as opposed to @ 30-35 where it has traditionally been. I wonder if this may have affected the number of spots available to offer to the waitlist.

@lolpro2018 I would not yet assume you are out. May 15 is apparently the response date for the first round of wait list offers. You never know, you might be part of a possible second round. Again, it’s like a lottery ticket. The chances are never high, but they are there. Hold onto the ticket for a few more days.
