<p>Do you think you would have to be catholic to attend Notre Dame? I know you technically don't but would you feel very out of place if you were for say Methodist? </p>
<p>No. The student body is about 80/20 catholic-non-catholic, so there is definitely a non-catholic presence on campus. Admissions officers will openly admit that ND accepts atheists.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the 80/20 can be attributed to the fact that simply more Catholics apply to ND, rather than there being a bias.</p>
<p>You’d be fine, as long as you don’t mind taking a couple of theology courses (general requirement). The only real heretics at this school are non-football fans haha</p>
<p>I knew an atheist who attended ND. He loved it.</p>
<p>Somehow ND manages to be thoroughly Catholic without being heavy handed.</p>
<p>By the way, the faculty at ND is almost 50% non-Catholic. You won’t have a problem there.</p>
