Extracurricular activities in and outside of school:
–Newspaper: 10th grade as News Editor, 11th grade as Student Life Editor, and 12th grade as Editor in Chief-- While an academic elective, requires the same or more time outside of classroom and normal homework time as there are interviews, ad sales, workshops, and many, many hours spent in editing, layout and putting the monthly paper to bed. There is a monthly print paper and online news site to maintain.
–Varsity Academic Team: 10-12th grade, highlights include selection as one of four members selected for our High Q team in 2014-2015, consistently one of the two highest scorers on the team, and the team’s resident literature expert
–Literature team-- (10-12th) timed writing on a given topic
–Reading Bowl Team-- (9-12th) like Academic Team but with a specific collection of award-winning novels that change each year
–Cast member, Spring musical-- 9th grade Beauty and the Beast and 11th grade-- Les Miserables
–Mock Trial-- Lead Counsel (9th and 10th) --worked with local attorneys to gather testimony, prepare witnesses, write opening/closing statements, examine and cross-examine witnesses on the stand, argue before real judges
–Lector and choir member at our parish
– Soprano in a community choir performing classical choral arrangements with other members of all ages (though most have grandchildren) and faith backgrounds (10th and 12th grade)
–Youth Leadership Henry- a select group of sophomores from all around the county who meet monthly to network and meet leaders while participating in team-building events, informational tours, and service projects in our area
–Women’s Honors Choir (9th grade)
