Nov 1 App Deadline for Freshmen

What are the advantages and disadvantages of meeting the "preferred" application deadline of November 1st for incoming freshmen?

Is it mostly to improve on-campus housing availability if accepted?

Thanks.

You’re chances of being accepted as a freshman drop to almost nothing…“Freshman applications received after November 1 will receive a decision on a space-available basis only”.

Only a very limited number of students get accepted after the Nov 1’st deadline. Think of it as a hard date. Also, if you apply after Nov 1’st, you may not get an admissions decision till April 1.

The earlier you apply (before Nov 1) and register with housing, the earlier you’ll be able to bid on housing. If you wait till Nov 1’st, you’ll likely be in the last group that chooses dorms, and your choice will be more limited.

The Nov. 1 deadline is a hard deadline. I know of 1 person who got accepted afterwards, but it was pure luck. Miss it, and you have VERY little, if any, chance of admission. If you haven’t applied yet, do it quick! If you get accepted and want to enroll, do it quickly. The sooner you finish the housing contract, the sooner you get to choose your dorm. If you enroll after the end of February, you won’t be able to pick until the last possible date, at which point all the dorms will be taken, so the housing dept. will manually assign you somewhere. Where you end up then is purely up to chance.

it’s basically the deadline. Miss it and your chances drop to almost 0

Thanks everyone.
