Nov 1 or Jan 15?

GT is my first choice, so I was going to go with EA but I haven't taken the SAT yet (taking it on this week). I found out last night that you can still send in Oct scores, but it was too late for me.. :(

I'm thinking of sending in my application by Nov 1, but then you are automatically qualified for President's Scholarship program and I'm not really confident that I could get the scholarship.
(I mean, there's going to be hundreds of monsters w/ 2400 SAT and 100ECs.....)

So my question is this : If I don't get the scholarship, do I still have a chance of getting accepted? If I do, will the chance of me getting in be lower than submitting application on the regular due date? If I get rejected, can I reapply on the regular due date?

Thanks for reading,
Any comment is appreciated.

That’s too bad that you missed the Early Notification deadline. It doesn’t matter whether you could get that scholarship or not - you are simply automatically applying for the scholarship by just applying for the school earlier. If you don’t get the scholarship you still have a great chance of being accepted - less than 100 actually end up being enrolled President’s Scholars, if I’m correct. And the school says that the chances are the same - they use the same criteria - but if they aren’t sure about your application when they review it early, they will probably just defer it unless your application is god-awful.

So if they think your SAT scores may be iffy, or your EC’s aren’t enough, they will defer you and let you update those to be reconsidered.

And no, if you get flat-out rejected, you cannot reapply on the regular date.

Thanks for the reply cshumate,
I guess I’ll just send in my app. by Nov 1.
