Nov 3 Math Questions and Answers

does anyone wanna discuss math on AIM with me

It WAS 1/5 <- I am +.

For the sequence 1,2,4,3 where alternate numbers had to sum to 5. Was teh 28th element 3?

Did anyone have the quesiton with the bar that holds the two weights that were like 3:5. WAs that a real one or experimental.

tapedDuck, i put 3, as well. i'm pretty sure it's the right answer.

Knick, it was real. I guessed on that. Put 12 I think.

Knick, I got a=10 for that one. I think it said a+b=16, and 30a=50b.

I didn't have that one, so I think it was experimental.

What was the answer for the question that went something like this (the numbers I'm gonna write are not exactly what they were on the test, but if you had the question you should know what the question was):

.309876285= 3/10^j + 6/10^k + 5/10^m, and we wanted to find j+k+m.
The choices were like: a)12 b)11 c)10 d)9 e)8

I just guessed choice d)9, but it was merely a guess.

I put 9. The answer on the left was .30608, so it was 3/10^1+6/10^3+8/10^5

YES!!!!! I LOVE YOU LOOBOO!!!

And, I totally forgot what the question was, but do you remember what the question was after that question, in that same section, I think it was the last question (#16) All I remember is something like a line, and a circle, and the diameter being 10, and having to find "p"? Since you have such a wonderful memory, I'm hoping you might remember, and if you do, I will love you even more!

I don't remember that, but I remember a circle with center at (12, 0), and radius p. the line segment from the right end of the circle was made up of 3p's, p=4. I forgot what the question asked for though. Maybe it asked for circumference...

There were two other circle problems. One had a central angle of 60, with radius 4. It asked for the perimeter of the triangle formed by two radii and a chord (p=12).

Another circle problem asked for the area of the shaded sector. I think it was 24pi.

The answer to number 16 gametheory was 5...you had to find the slope

Yeah, I had 24pi for one of them too, I think that one was one of the earlier ones. Well, good then, there were only two probs that stumped me, and now I know I definitely got at least one of them right, maybe the other one too.

OH, OH, what did you get for that question about a girl riding a bike in one direction then making two ninety degree turns?

Edit: thanks kski, I think I got that one wrong, 'cause now I remember I had 5/2. Darn!

She went 6 miles in one direction, turned left and went for 5 miles, then made a right turn and went for 4 miles. 10^2+5^2=c^2. I put (125)^.5 for that one.

Oh...were you talking about the y=-x^2+k and the diameter is 10?? Yeah..m=5 for that one.

Good, me too! Okay, so it looks like I only got one wrong (the 5 one, I got 5/2), unless I made some stupid mistake. Were there any other hard (or tricky) ones?

Also, looboo, it seems like we had the same test, so do you know what you're experimental was? Because all I know is that I had two consecutive CR sections, and thus it must have been one of them, but I'm not quite sure.

Edit: yeah, I got 5/2 for that one, I got that one wrong. I hope it was the only one.

My experimental section was CR.

The order of my sections was:

Writing
Math
CR
CR
Math
CR
Math
CR
Writing

I had the same order, do you by any chance know which CR the experimental was. I'll try to write down the topics I remember:

MamaPapa
Monsters
Socrates
Genetic Plants
Grrr...that's all I remember, for now.

Hi. The math was easy, but I was REALLY stumped by 1 question. It was the one with Most Dentists recommend Gum X. It said which one COULD be one. Then it said I,II,II. I forgot the choices but i remember that
III. There were less than 25 dentists.

I put E. I,II, and III.

What do you guys think?

Yeah I put I, II, and III. I think I. was "Some dentists declined to give an opinion." and II. was "The majority of dentists recommend Gum X." Something like that...
