Nov. 3 SAT 2 US History

For the 14th amendment one I remember eliminating all teh choices except 1. I think it was A

What waas the Good Neighbor Policy again?

Here are some answers I remember that are for sure correct:

Douglas MacArthur
Jackson Turner thing - social mobility
Battle of New Orleans - Boosted confidence about survival of republic
Carter Administration - defending human rights
Kennedy - Bay of Pigs Invasion
Satire Picture Question - urban corruption
Main export - raw cotton
24th amendment - poll tax
Citizens have always voted in 1 house of legislature
abolition - end slavery
why no tobacco in northern colonies - growing season too short, ground is too hard to cultivate or something
Result of Vietnam War - skepticism of international intervention or something
popular soverignty- stephen douglas
Andrew Jackson question - details about his lifestyle
What is not true about Alien and Sedition Acts - John Adams never vetoed it
Era of Good Feelings - no comeptition between political parties

Colony of Virginia - Im pretty sure it was business venture. It was not a propietary colony.

Good Neighbor Policy - reciprocal trading rights.

yeah it was A.

which african american said that "by all means necessary" blacks had to take action? i was doubtful on that one, i couldn't decide between malcolm x and marcus gravey so i left it blank.

also, who said the thing about the "lucky 10 percent" for blacks or something? the answer choices were Booker T. Washington and Dubois...i put Booker t. washington, what'd you guys put?

OH Another QUestion:

what was the one about with long quotes on "seperate but unequal" and then like the LEAST affected outcome. was it affirmative action of african-americans on college admissions?

yeah, thats what i put also cliffhanger. i couldnt remember the exact wording.

some more i remember: why didnt they grow tobacco in new england. i remember a choice was because puritans disapproved of it. i didnt put that. i put the climate.

the very first or second question was about the def of abolitionism. i feel very sad for anyone who got that wrong.

what did the WCTU do - temperance.

and there was a question about what didnt they have in the west, or something like that. a choice was that women could vote but i didnt put that because they could vote earlier than 1920.

there was a question about national origins of most immigrants. i put ireland and germany.

there was a question about the ethnic background of some religions, including mennonite, and roman catholic. i put german.

About the alien and sedition act, I know it was passed, but one of the choices was that ' it allowed for passage of the Kentucky Virginia resolution', which doesn't make sense because the K&V resolution wsa written by Jefferson and Madison. ANd it didn't get passed

A quick google check shows that it was DuBois.

For "all means necessary" I put Malcolm X. His ideals seemed a lot more aggressive than Garvey's Back to Africa movement.

Alien and Sedition Acts restricted freedom of speech and press. I remember that one.

ah shoot..for era of good feeilngs i put "because we never entered a war during that time"...i thought we didn't? the last one was the war of 1812 at the time.

bleh another wrong answer i put was "conservation" for turner's thesis...i'm so stupid.

i put "abandoned isolationism" or something for vietnam war. maybe it was a different question.

andrew jackson, i put something about how he was a tennessee planter, i think?

era of good feelings, i put that we werent at war with europe, or something. are you sure thats wrong. what war was going on during the era of good feelings?

Same for the immigrants, Ireland and Germany

The elite 10% was WEB De bois

for the seperate but unequal one I put subsidized lunches, which is a complete non sequitor because it didn't have anyting to do iwth race.

The Alien and Sedition Acts Question asked what was NOT true.

It was passed. John Adams never vetoed it. That was the answer.

"there was a question about the ethnic background of some religions, including mennonite, and roman catholic. i put german."

wasn't it French? Because the english disliked french people cuz they were catholics (colonial time)

no. mennonites are definitely german. the amish people still speak german.

not every catholic is german, of course, but out of all those choices, it was german.

ill compile a list now that there are three pages.

Are you sure it was Ireland and Germany?

I thought they were asking about the SECOND wave of immigrants from southern europe. So I put Italy and Hungary.

ahh dang..i thought women EVERYWHERE only got the right to vote in 1920..bleh yet another stupid answer
there was a question about national origins of most immigrants. i put ireland and germany.
yeah, i put that too. i never heard much about itlian and hungarian immigrants so i eliminated those.

Well I remembered in my prep book that the K&V resolution subtitle was RIGHT after the Alien Sedition acts so I guessed that the two were somehow interlinked. I'm pretty sure though that the answer was "never vetoed by John Addams" cause it wasn't during his term.

yeah, i guessed german, since the names didn't seem to be affiliated with any of the other ethnic groups

The thing that gave the religion thing away was "Shwenkfelder" or whatever. It is indeed German.

For the religion one i put irish and english
