Nov. 5 SAT II Chinese

It's year/month/day. "Nian, yue, ri"

Also, are you talking about the ying shua question. Because I think that's a printing company.

i put C for the listening question where they were introducing people. how about you? also, i didn't mean to like answer something u already answered. it's not that big of a deal, i dunno why you had to point it out that u already answered it...

btw, who in here is a FOB?

Are you sure silverspeed? I mean I understand that "da 7 zhe" would be like 30% off. But wasn't the "da 4 zhe" (60% off) for the juniors sports clothing? (qing shao nian yun dong yi).

and for the last one, I said it was aimed for "educators".

i got the i'm excited to meet you for the listening question

also the question about the roads being cut off, it was it issued by the department of transportation?

redpen:
shen fen zheng is ID card.
fu zhao is passport.

chinkytwinkie: I put C too. (nice to meet you)

I'm sorry chinkytwinkie if I offended you in anyway. I just wanted to tell you to look above too. That way I wouldn't have to type everything out over again and that way you'll know that "xiang lai" was probably right since I explained it above.

I'm very sorry.

i put it was issued by department of transportation. and i remember the junior sportswear was "da si zhe" which is 60% off, so that's why i put that.

so is everybody ABC/non-native Chinese ppl?

redpen:

yeah I put the department of transportation too.

chinkytwinkie:

What's a FOB?

Out of curiosity, what does ABC stand for? and FOB?

I'm Chinese, in case you're wondering.

ABC = american born chinese. i can't believe you've never heard of it...
FOB = fresh off the boat, as in people who were born in another country and moved to america.

haha...I figured out the ABC right after I posted my question.

I guess I'm a FOB then. I was born in China and came when I was 2.

haha, how about everyone else?

blah, chinese SAT curve is really hard because so many ppl are good at chinese. if u miss 1, u could get a 790 or 800. if u miss 2, it's like 790 at best.

is anyone else here not abc or fob? i have been studying chinese for 3ish years in high school and i went to china last summer... but i am the only person in my class taking the sat ii... am i crazy?? i am hoping for above 600, but it sounds like absolutely everyone has been studying chinese their whole lives or is fluent :(

what kind of score could you expect to get if you missed 4?

could someone please explain the discount thing? Even my mom didnt understand me when I asked her, lol.

haha, FOBs are more for people who recently came to America, hence the "fresh" part. I came when I was 2, like stars4u. we don't really have a name =p

my lowest SAT2 score is gonna be in my native language. how ironic!

Okay discount thing:

"da 4 zhe" means 60% off
da 6 zhe" means 40% off

I hope that helps!

My parents didn't know either. I had to ask my Chinese School teacher.

stars4u: no harm done, it's just some ppl on forums can be overbearingly rude and ostentatious and all that good stuff.

the way i look at the %age thing is that it's the % of the original price that you have to buy. so like "da 4 zhe" means u only pay 40% of the price which is 60% off.

if u missed 4, i would say maybe 750? i dunno. all i know is that the curve is really really bad because a ton of FOBs take the test and get 800. i mean..the average IS like 750 or something around there!

carpecollege: i think colleges will recognize your non-chinese background and be more "lenient" on you. i mean...seriously..i grew up speaking mandarin and i still got stuff wrong!

so anyone else take chinese SAT?

Does anyone remember what the last question was about?

The last question of the grammar section was about the guy always being on time but today he was late (Answer: xiang lai).

The last question of the reading comprehension was an ad posted about a job at an university. From what other people have said, I guess it was aimed towards educators (they needed 3 teachers) and they needed to turn in letters of recommendation.
