what essay topic did you guys get? what did you write about?

it was about comparing with others and appreciating what you have. i wroe about the dissatisfaction of blacks in the civil rights. damn i did i bad i think though. i'd be fine with an 8.

the value of established traditions and whether or not they deserve to stick around.

Transcendentalist thought in the 1800s (Thoreau...Hawthorne)

MLK Jr.

personal Experience.

yeah i got the same as you harrypotter. i wrote about women trying to get the right to vote... blah, stupid, i know.

I had the traditions one, and I argued that old traditions shouldn't always be kept.

Civil War

Fahrenheit 451

I should've tried to squeeze in one more example, but I just about filled both pages, so whatever..

I made sure I was going to mention the election in my essay, as its been taking ove rmy life in AP Gov.

and I did, well maybe not so exactly

1) Electoral College
2) Totalitarianism/oppressive gov't in middle east (incorporate iraq democracy)

I developed the examples thoroughly though. i had room for a third but it would have looked considerably smaller and wouldnt look good or organized well (i made this mistake on my last sat, and i think was the cause of my 9 essay instead of 10).

yeah...was there anyone who would've honestly said "Oh, yeah, for sure! Old traditions should always be kep exactly the same!!" hahaha

^ I took a slightly different approach than you. Instead of talking about traditions that need to change, I talked about people (transcendentalists and MLK) who tore down established traditions and benefitted humanity as a whole. But I like your approach too :)

Yes, I did this hookem. I thought it would be an interesting spin for the readers.
