Nov SSAT Scores

I took the SSAT yesterday - does anyone know if the scores will be in before the Dec testing. I think I did okay but I'm contemplating registering for the Dec or Jan test just in case. Has anyone applied to any of the boarding schools in New England?

25 Nov. scores released to schools......you will get them several days later and yes, i have applied. Do you have questions?

Thanks - that helps. I'll probably wait and there'll still be time to register for Jan's test if necessary. Yes - ? - I've looked at so many and I really don't want high pressure academics, yet somewhat challenging. I want to enjoy my boarding experience a little and don't want to end up getting in over my head. I'm thinking my scores will be competitive but have already ruled out the big names, Andover, Exeter, Deerfield, etc. I'm looking more towards GDA, Tabor, Portsmouth Abbey, Brooks, Berkshire, etc. Any suggestions?

Have you looked at any schools....visited? While I don't know you it may be that you need to look at differences other than academic. What other things are you interested in? High pressure and high quality are two different things. Boarding school takes a lot of time and you may want to think about what you will do during your non class hours.

I've looked at eight already. I've enjoyed all my visits and interviews and some are more appealing than others. I'm trying to consider everything to include dorm space, food, athletics, technology, but the schools that stand out most thus far is the student attitudes. It's funny how their friendliness or lack of, affects decisions!

You are quite correct that the student attitude will affect your decision. Each school has a personality. If you have looked at 8 schools then you have some idea of what you want. I wish you the best of luck, on your essays and in your application decisions. Keep us posted.

Thanks for your help and I will keep you posted!

I'm not applying for either of those schools, however I can tell you the ?'s posed by other schools: What are your favorite subjects and why? What do you intend to continue at this school that you've done in the past? What are you looking for in a school? What values do you hold in the highest regard? Where do you think those values come from? What do you consider to be your most positive attribute? What do you have the most difficulty with? What would you like to obtain from being a student here (what do you wish to accomplish)? Do you have any particular achievement for which your most proud? Other than those questions, they may ask you if you have any questions, which I would recommend at least having two good ones to ask of them. Also, it is a good idea to thorougly research the school first so that you can incorporate your knowledge of the school's past acheivements (or something that is unique and of importance to the school) in your interview somehow. I hope this helps!
