November 13 SSAT

What were your individual scores?

I’m going to go check my mailbox now. I’ll post mine if they’re here.

Hey all. I just got my SSAT scores too. I got a 94 total, but I’m not sure whether I should send it because I also took the ISEE and did almost perfect (:D), but my SSAT essay was better. On the ISEE, I got 99,98, 95, 95. So 99th total. I’m leaning on sending my ISEE even though the essay wasn’t that good. What do you all think?

^ Just send both!

I just checked my mailbox and I got 95 overall!!

Congratulations guys!

^Congratulations to you too 2010! Fantastic job! Looks like all the studying payed off :).

@2010,
Congrats! You really deserved those great scores! I got a 96 in verbal, 78 in math, and 89 in reading. What were your individual scores?

@Ifax: Thanks!!! I got 92 Verbal, 99 Math, and 90 Reading.

Congrats to 2010, markalex, and ifax! @markalex: I wouldn’t sweat the SSAT 94% vs. your ISEE 99%…they’re both great.

@SevenDad-I wanted to know if Your daughter was applying to one of the more well-known schools, or the less well-known, because I want to know what schools most kids are applying to this Year.

@Ifax-What grade are You in?

@Exeterrr,
I’m in eighth applying for ninth.

@2010,
Wow those are great scores! Especially you’re math score, that’s hard to get a 99%. Most people I know did really well on the this specific SSAT, I’m glad it’s going so well for people.

@Exeterr: The list is not finalized yet, but it is very short and has schools that are both “HADES” and non-HADES, from both NE and Mid-Atlantic. She seems to like smaller, more rural-ish schools better…

Don’t want to go public with the exact list just yet…

I’d wager that Exeter and Andover get the most total apps per year…

@2010hopeful- How
did you do on the essay? What was the topic?

BTW- Congrats to everyone! I’m taking it next month…

Sorry, but what did all of you think of the verbal section? Was it hard? Were there a lot of words that you didn’t know? Or was it ok?

My child did very well on a full-length sample math test, and bombed – and I mean bombed – every section of this test. He wants to try again, but we’re really having doubts about how much better he can do. Granted, he only took one sample test and did not do any other prep. One of the things he apparently did on the test was attempt every question – big mistake unless you’re a HS upper classman! FYI, he’s not totally straight A’s, but he’s pretty close, and he goes to a nationally-ranked school, (so please make no assumptions about “public school grade inflation”).

I haven’t received mine yet, which is odd. I hope it comes either today or tomorrow.

The verbal section was okay in my opinion. There were about 4 words I didn’t know.

I felt that this SSAT was more forgiving than the last one I took. I missed six things on the reading and I got an 89. Last time I missed 5 questions and I got an 81. However, I felt the math was brutal. I barely missed any and I got a 78!

Congrats to all! :):):slight_smile: I’m unsure of what to expect on mine–I’ve never taken an SSAT prior to this one.

@ifax,
Great job, especially on your 96 in verbal. I felt there were a lot of trivial details on the math too and I’m expecting a low score. How many exactly did you miss?

@intrinsically,
I omitted 4 and missed 8. One of my friends took a practice test. He omitted 20 missed 10ish. I think his score was around a 70. So I wouldn’t be too worried if I were you about your verbal score.

Oh sorry I meant how many omitted/missed on the math section, my wording there was a little weird.

But thanks for the verbal info! That’s the section I prepped the most for.

@intinsicaly,
Oh sorry. For the math section I omitted none and I missed six. I wouldn’t worry too much about the SSAT though, you have two more chances to retake it.
