My daughter submitted her application online Saturday evening, October 31st. However, if she looks at the status of her application, it has everything logged in as of November 2nd, Monday. The question I have is regarding when she’ll be notified. Since the 1st landed on the weekend, will she still learn of her decision mid November or will she now not hear until December sometime? Her status shows complete and ready for review. All of her other materials from her counselor arrived end of October with the exception of her transcripts which were logged in on November 2nd as well. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My guess is that if everything that was supposed to be in place by Nov 1st was in place–and it sounds as if it was–your daughter will be considered in the November round and receive her decision Nov 15th…particularly if her status reads “complete and ready for review.” The admissions office was likely just processing some of the documents at the last minute (Monday morning) , which would explain the Nov 2nd date.

Then again, I’m just a mom…what do I know? ;)

Anyway, best of luck to your daughter! My daughter’s waiting as well. Fingers crossed for both!

nj_mom,

It dawned on me after I wrote the above reply, that my daughter’s transcripts didn’t show up in her application status until AFTER she’d applied, even though Auburn had received them weeks before. I remember now that I called the admissions office concerned because I knew her transcripts were there (but weren’t showing up in her status), and they told me that transcripts don’t show up in the status as rec’d until the student submits an application. So, since your daughter didn’t apply until the 31st, the transcripts wouldn’t show up until the next business day–which was Monday the 2nd. The important thing, IMO, is that she met the Nov 1st deadline with her app, and that all the supporting docs were there at that point. Sorry I didn’t remember this before…it’s been a LONG admissions season! :)

Thanks for your reply, cganyard. I am hoping that to be the case, especially since their deadline fell on a weekend. All that rushing to get it in by November 1st and I’d hate for her to have to wait until December… Well I’ll keep our fingers crossed for the both of them! Where else is your daughter applying and where are you from, if I may ask? We’re from NJ which you probably already figured out. Auburn, Clemson and College of Charleston are high on my daughter’s list. She has also applied to Tulane and UGA and will eventually to Wake and Vanderbilt, her two reaches. Their deadlines aren’t until 2010, so she’s got some time and is glad to get the EA ones out of the way. This whole process is pretty stressful. Being the last proofer, puts a lot of stress on the mom! What’s worse is my daughter is a twin, so I’ve got double the applications to look over for mistakes and essays to proof! Calgon take me awayyyyyyyy!

you deserve more than calgon!!! 2 going through this at the same time!! good luck

nj_mom,

Twins? Wow, I can’t imagine doing this with two at the same time. Stressful doesn’t begin to cover it!!

Our daughter is our last (thank goodness, this is exhausting!). One son graduated from the Honors College at Clemson last year, and another son is currently at UVA. Both sons couldn’t have had more positive college experiences, and we’re hoping for the same for our daughter. Glad your daughter is considering Clemson! Feel free to pm me if you have any questions. Both of our boys also applied to UGA, Wake, and Vanderbilt (among others), so we have a lot in common. :)

Our daughter’s journey has been a lot tougher…and we couldn’t be more proud of her! She has a strong resume–great grades at a very competitive high school (in Fairfax County, VA), lots of extra-curriculars, community service, leadership, blah, blah, blah, LOL–but her test scores are low.
Not sure why–she did quite well on timed practice tests–but she just freezes up when it comes to the real thing. That, coupled with the fact that she wants the big, southern, spirited experience, resulted in this list: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, East Carolina, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. She’s already been accepted at four (love those rolling admissions!), but the reaches are yet to be determined. Auburn is a perfect fit for her in so many ways, but we fear her scores will keep her out. Guess we’ll find out if her high GPA can trump them.

Anyway, your daughter has a fabulous list of schools…best of luck to her–and to her twin! And to YOU!!

My daughter got into Auburn and Tulane today!! Her status online shows her as admitted and congratulates her. Very exciting. Now we await the envelopes to see if there’s any $$$. Am hopeful that there will be since she heard from both within 7 days of applying which I thought was pretty fast…but what do I know. :)

nj_mom,

Huge congrats to your daughter!! How exciting–two acceptances to two great schools in the same day!!! You must be so proud! I imagine there are many more to come… :)

Unfortunately for us, the news wasn’t as good. My daughter’s been deferred to the December admissions decision, meaning she’ll be looked at again next month. I must admit we expected this. Her Auburn admissions advisor said with her high GPA she wouldn’t be denied this round, but with her low scores, the chance of an immediate acceptance was a long shot. Soooo, I guess we wait and hope her test scores will come up…

A tough day, especially with us visiting Auburn this Friday. Oh well, it’s not over yet…

cganyard - I’m sorry to hear that… I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. It sounds like she has already has been accepted to some great schools which is a good feeling to at least know that you’re going somewhere. Keep the faith for a little while longer. You never know… In the meantime, we haven’t visited any of the schools my daughter applied to since they all meant a plane ride. For us, the acceptance is great but we’re only halfway there. She’ll also need some money in those envelopes for her to be able to go (especially being a twin)… so we wait and see and keep our fingers crossed as well. :)

nj_mom,

Thanks for your kind words.

My daughter and I are heading off tomorrow to Birmingham (if Ida doesn’t keep us from landing!), then making a sweep through MS and AL, where we’ll visit Ole Miss, Alabama, and Auburn. The good news is she’s been accepted at two of the three, so it won’t be a wasted trip. And she refuses to let today’s news from Auburn get her down. She’s a military kid who’s moved seven times, so she rolls with the punches pretty well. Anyway, we’re very excited to see all the campuses!

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for your daughter and her twin! Keep us posted…:)

Yes, will do. And I would love to hear your review of the Auburn campus as it looks like we may need to be flying there in the near future. Enjoy your road trip! Tell your daughter to keep her chin up and maybe she’ll get a nice little holiday present. :)

nj_mom: Congrats on your daughters news. Our daughter also got into both Auburn & Tulane. We are visiting Tulane this weekend. We visited Auburn last spring and she loved it.
I can only laugh thinking of your comment on twins applying. Our daughter is doing all her applications now - of course she is our self motivated child that barely wants us to look at them for proofing. Now on the other hand in two years I may be crazy - we have triplet boys that will be applying!

Hey - I’ll be in New Orleans visiting my parents this weekend! I’ll waive to you!

OMG!!! If you could get a 3-for-1 price on a decent college consultant…it might be worth it!!!

Congrats to you and your daughter as well. Where else is your daughter applying and where are you from? I’d be interested to hear your review of Tulane, and Auburn as well. My daughters are both pretty motivated but due to heavy texting and im-ing, they miss so much when they proof…they are just so used to “seeing” everything the wrong way. Not sure if they even know what looks right anymore. lol Have a fun trip!

Just for reference, I got my scholarship notification a good two weeks after I got my acceptance… You might have to wait for the $$$ :/

momto4

just wondering what you thought of tulane?

nj_mom - sent you a message via PM
