hi guys
i've just finished my November SAT US history exam..;-)
i have already taken it last June --got a 740 and took it again this time.
So how was the test?

I thought it was not so hard - not so easy,, some random questions,,

Hey, did you take APUSH? If so, how did you do on the AP Exam, a "4" or "5"? A student told me last year that the rigor of his APUSH class helped him attain a really good SAT subject test score.

I omitted 3-4 and got anything between 0-15 wrong. It didn't go to well. The ones I omitted asked stuff I never came across while studying.
The good thing is, most of my schools only require 2 subject tests, so if only u.s.history went that bad, there's no need to worry.

BarristerDad118, i took APUSH exam and got a 5 w/o taking any AP classes. In fact, i self studied US history since i'm an international applicant. and i do think AP helps SAT USH, but the thing is it's harder to get 750+ on SAT2 than 5 on AP USH.

i feel like a fing retard. because math II has 50 questions so i automatically thought USH has 50 as well. and guess what i did!!?? i was TAAAAAAAKIIIIIINNNNGGGG my time for the first half. and then i got to around 40 and flipped thru the pages and went 'holy *'.

ended up skipping a whole lot. oh **** i'm screwed. penn's gonna hate me. not even CLOSE to breaking 700 i think. love how today turned out. or better...my life

sry for the pessimism

getting a 5 on apush is harder than getting a 750+ on the subject test....

for apush you have to write 2 free essays and a dbq that could cover ANY topic in history; therefore, your mastery of history must encompass every time period lest you get a topic you have no idea how to write about. also, you have to have decent writing skills to get high scores on the essays

for sat II, its just multiple choice that's easier than AP multiple choice...if you aren't fully familiar with a particular event...you might miss 0-2 questions...

btw i got 5 on APUSH and 790 on SAT USH

also, i had a GREAT teacher so i didnt need any prep for the subject test, if you can get a 5 on the test though you should probably do well (720+) with little to no prep

if not, then you might want to consider getting a prep book

hope that helped

well, bicyclekick, in my case, AP was MUCH easier. I think essays were easy for me.. cuz i thought of keywords for every time period (decades), essays were not a big deal for me. Actually, i think i got a 5 on APUSH BECAUSE of essays, since i screwed MCQs. Why the hell is SAT US soooooooooooooo hard?? wanna get 750+..envy

does anyone know the general curve (E/M/H) for SAT USH???

i thought the AP was much easier than the SAT. maybe b/c i'm dumb? haha

yeah i dont think you know what ur talking about. 5 on AP is WAY EASIER. for the essays even if u only have a general idea of what ur talking bout you can BS you way thru. plus the curve is super easy and the questions on the MC much more straight forward than the SATII.

OK guys what bout the SAT2 NOV USHISTORY EXAM ITSELF?

Thanks for all your helpful remarks. I know if d achieves a "5" (or even a "4") she'll probably be taking the subject test, too.

I thought this test was really easy. It was my first time taking the subject test. I got a 5 on the AP test.

I was questionable on maybe 5-10, but i usually had a good hunch to go with. I haven't studied since last year, so that's good.

i hope i get high 700's

does anyone know what the curve is about?

well i know someone who got a 4 on the ap test but a 790 on the sat 2 history....and another person who got a 4 with a 740ish score (not sure of the exact score)....so from my experience and from my peers' experiences, the sat 2 was easier

I thought the test was really easy, skipped 4-6. I think I might actually get an 800 here :)

Intl.

You thought it was really easy when you skipped 4-6? Probably not an 800. js.

I'd be seriously kicking myself if I had skipped that many.

The ones I did skip were the ones about random nitpicky details that I totally did not think I needed to study.

Thought APUSH test was easier...gotta a 5. I didnt like how the SAT 2 = not in chronological order.

^ I agree. I'm too used to the chronological sets of the APUSH exams.

I thought it was rather difficult, actually...they asked for some really detailed stuff, and there were quite a few EXCEPT questions. 750 maybe.

Totally agree Echo. I didnt think it was super hard, but I didnt BREEZE through it. Lots of reading and it was a LONG test. Plus I'm more of a "bigger picture" cause and effect" kind of person when it comes to history -- more historical analysis and less fact memorizing.

Disappointed that a huge amount of stuff that I studied was not on the test.

Some answers I thought were debatable/could be interpreted differently.

I'm just hoping random people who think they could do the USH subject test but have no idea about anything can make the curve nice.

ah yea, i thought it was alright.. though i skipped lik 14 :| what do youthink my score woudl be? and also does anybody remember if there were 90 questions? or were there more?

there were 90 questions.

according to that, 9 wrong is an 800!!!! whoa...

so if the curve is really good, i may be getting a 750 (hopefully)
