November 2009 WRITING (US only)

I think it should have been “respectfully,” not respectively

Really mifune? Crap, I think I put NE for that one. Respectively stuck out as unusual but I didn’t know what exactly was wrong with it. Was the Churchill one #29?

@JDong217, that makes sense now, thanks.

Churchill was #29. I put down E, but I was unsure about the word “respectively”. It is wrong though. It should be respectfully.

i acutally got 2 too. around those two. so maybe we’ll good. haha

did anyone the first part of the writing section was hard? like from 1-10?

what about the question with like the workers and “deserving” or something.

its wings span
(…)

Yep. Respectively is used to denote a specific order, not how highly regarded something is.

I had two NE (around 20-21 and 29) but since 29 had an error, that would put me down to 1 no error in the correcting errors section (around #7) and 1 no error in the identifying errors section (#20-21) from what I remember.

what’s the answer to this?

gravitational forces of the moon and the earth “slows” the rate of …

is it supposed to be slow?

and

I have four sons, two of whom are… is that right?

@scott: I put E for the deserving workers.

There were quite a few E’s in the beginning of the writing section before identifying errors section i believe.

^Yes, it should be “slow”

On the second one, “two of whom” is right. The answer to that was A.

Yes. The gravitional forces SLOW. Did anyone get 2 NE in a row? I think it was 27 and 28. And on the same section for #29: The one about "Most of Europe was funded by government… while blah blah was financially supported. I chose C “financially supported” as the error because it switched from funded to financially supported. Is that right?

for the identifying paragraph error, was the first answer

We assume that …

or was it we “can” assume…

and why?..

also, toward the end, there was a question about a sentence, then it asked, “replace thus with by comparison” “delete quite” “change complex with complicated” what was the answer?

I put “and two of whom.” Can anybody tell me why that’s wrong?

@scott it was by comparison (for the smile/eye question)

so which one was the experimental section for writing? i got one writing section on sec 4 and another at 7. 4 included something about jaguars i think. please tell me its seven

man, up until section9, i thought i would get 800 writing b/c i did so well on essay and section 4 but that last section killed my dream. i had 3 NE in that last section. KILLER.

so section 4 was the real one?

what about the one with

“we assume…”

"we can assume

@wangstax7: Are you from the US? If so, section 4 should be experimental.
