November 2009 WRITING (US only)

^no, but they didn’t make any sense.

@CrzyGmer789X2,

was “excessive hunting, destroying of habitat, and introducing of species” a choice?

I only had two writing sections, no experimental. For the identifying errors, I only got one NE. It mentioned something along the lines of, “what appears to be… if this is confirmed…” Can’t remember what the animal was for the life of me, though.

And I changed two answers from NE because of the conditional tense. One was “If I would have known that the horse had never won a race, I would have never waited for three hours in the mud to see him.” or something like that. I said “would have known” should’ve been something else, like “had known”.

And the other one that I changed from NE was “My coach told [name] and me that we stand a good chance of qualifying for nationals if we train consistently in the summer.” I said “stand” should be different, like “will stand” since the qualifying action has yet to be performed.

Now that I’ve written a book, opinions?

Don’t remember the first question, but I had the same thing as you did for the second two.

Just wondering minimeigh, did that writing section have questions involving jellyfish, forging documents, and a grocery store paragraph correction? Or do you have no idea what I’m talking about? :P

Yay, usually I change my answers to the wrong ones.
Haha, well the grocery store one was the only improving paragraph section I had. Jellyfish and forging documents are another story though, can’t remember anything about that. Were they in sentences or paragraphs?

Whew, that’s tremendous relief to me, since I completely screwed up the other writing section, but now it turned out to be experimental.

writing was easy this time around :)

Haha yeah from what I’ve been reading it sounds like the experimental was significantly harder. I didn’t find the real one to be too bad, but that doesn’t mean I got them all right, unfortunately. The essay was weird, though, I had trouble thinking of historical/literary references for pop culture and ended up just talking about modern times.

Yeah, the 35 question writing did seem significantly easier than the practices I took. I always fail at the essay though. I think I’ll be happy with a 4 this time around.

yeah. i had writing experimental, i dont know, some of it was kinda weird but overall it was nicer than last time. im hoping for 680+
and yea the essay was difficult for me too! i wrote like, three long paragraphs T__T ugh its gonna be like an 8 or something. i referenced buffalo springfield and the great gatsby. whatever.

For a minute I thought you meant 4/12 but I see what you mean now, ha. I took my first SAT and first ACT one after another in June last year; got an 11 on the SAT and an 8 on the ACT, not sure what happened there.

LOL. i’ve taken the ACT 6 times. 9/7/10/10/9…and now im waiting for this one. hopefully it will be a 10 or 11.

can anyone give me a detailed explanation why “excessive hunting, destruction of habitat, and introduction of species” is the correct answer? i put that, but it doesn’t look too parallel to me! do you guys remember the other choices?
help!

I took the ACT once and I’m never taking it again. 35 composite and I’m happy. Wish I could forget about that 8 on the essay though, I got all the writing questions right and then bombed that.

Sorry no_audio, didn’t have that question.

^^^ i also changed my answer from NE about the coach/consistently training question to “will qualify” or whatever the word was.

annnd i also had trouble with the snow leopard/extinction/if confirmed question…i thought the phrase should go “if confirmed…this evidence WOULD” instead of could…but if it was changed to WOULD then the meaning of the sentence would also change, so i left it as NE

oh, excellent wg90210, we agree on both then. how many NE’s did you get overall? I only had one, but I had definite answers for all but the three that I mentioned earlier in the thread, two of which we agree on.

i might have had only one NE, but i chose a few A for the other section, especially section 10.

Oh, yeah, I had some A’s in that section too, I don’t remember those as well because the identifying errors section always gives me the most trouble.

does anyone remember the questions with “in which” and “to which”, were these both no errors? or did they have an error? this is for the identifying error part

i also had trouble with the europe/united states out of fearing/because it feared the soviet union.
