November 2010 MATH 2 Discussion Thread

Well, since nobody made one yet and I'm itching to DisCuss, I created one! :)

How'd you all find it? I found a few functions related questions pretty tough/tricky.

It was harder than I had expected. I spent too much time hovering over some questions

1) the trig question involving the depth of the water level
2) functions: the one with the parametric equations
3) binary operation’s sum

740,the last 10 were real hard

I find it quite ok . I got 1 unsure question about annual interest . Btw when will the embargo be lifted

I did not even have time to finish it !! I skipped 3 questions and didnt get to do the last 8 :open_mouth:
But it was much easier than Barron’s !!

Is there an american version and an international version like SAT I? Or is there just one set of subject tests?
Anyway it wasn’t too bad, some of the trig threw me off  hoping for 700+

the vector question tricked me…

I think I will get 700+

But it could have been better

i omitted 4 :
the standard deviation question
the vector question
the compounded quarterly question
and one other
blehhhhh D:
rly hope thats all i missed ><

I skipped 6 total: 3 I didn’t know, 3 I didn’t get to because of lack of time.

I forgot quite a few things from math analysis. The 3 I skipped were:

 1. find the circle’s center where your given an equation like y^2 + y + x^2 + x or something
 2. something about an equation for an xyz plane
 3. interest compounded quarterly

Thankfully, I’m taking AP stats now so I knew the one for standard deviation. For future reference, a constant, linear transformation of a set of data (in this case, adding 3 to everything) does not affect the SD.

Awful! I didn’t finish the last 15!! Should have done a practice test or two.

Oh well, hoping for a 650+.

I forgot how to do vector sums (I still remember cross-product though) and the book I used doesn’t cover them.

I vaguely remembered something related to the law of cosines, and it made sense to me.

I guessed 8.9.

Confirmed?

Terrible…ugh I’m dreading getting the scores back lol

I skipped 8. I am pretty sure I failed thething tho. It was HARD.

The quarterly interest question… I had a brain fart and did the wrong thing, i divided the rate by 4 then compounded haha. I should have calculated the interest then divided by four and compounded.

And yes, the SD question just remained the same SD. Simple, the box didn’t have any affect at all.

Ahhh

Magnitude^2 = 4^2 + 8^2 - 248*cos(130 degrees)

Magnitude = 11

My brain malfunctioned.

what were the directions of the vectors? is it cos(130) maybe?

Are you sure about the magnitude? I thought it had to be longer than 9

I thought this test was extremely easy; I was expecting something a lot harder. But I could not concentrate for the life of me (I slept at like 4 am) so I didn’t finish 5. Throughout the entire test I saw little men dancing on the side of my answer sheet o-o It’s time I go to sleep again xD Anyone know how much we have to miss/omit to still get an 800?

miss 5, omit 6.

When using the law of cos for the vectors you use the angle between sides a and b which is 130.
