no i think that piecewise question was something with the point @ x=0 but it was different

yeah, i pulled an edit on you. sorry

I got 2. 10 characters.

yea i got 2 and jigpat sorry i have no idea what questions you’re talking about haha

lol well 2 was the right answer for that one

What about f(f(x)) one? i just said f(x). (This might have been Math 1, I took both and can’t really remember).

If x=acrtany then square root of (1+y^2)=?
A.lsinxl
B.lcosxl
C.lsecxl
Dlcscxl
E.lcotxl

nwgolfer- 2 is correct!

RupertPumpkin(interesting username!)- I hink that must have been M1. I don’t recall any such question being in M2.

Protoslg- mod of sec x. (C)

Robert, i remember putting that too!:). Also, for the box and whisper blox 46 was the median and 14 was the interquartile range?

rupert i think there was math 1

although on II there was one that like like f(g(x)) = h(x) and you had to find h(x), i think i got 2x-2? but im not entirely sure… i think it was f(x) = x+1 and h(x) is 2x-2, does that sound right?

What’s worse than not knowing 1 foot= 12 inch? I didn’t know about it at all. I am an International Candidate studying under the SI system. The foot and inches things are really unfamiliar to me. Somehow, I received a calling that I should divide it by 12. =)

Is it really 11? First, I didn’t know how to do. I randomly chose 12 before time ends. Then, I knew it can never be 12. It just will not make sense since 8+4=12. Somehow, my instinct just doesn’t feel right. So I picked the second largest number. =)

Now I just hope we all get right for some fundamental questions ( like some involving unknowns and graphs.) I seriously need numbers in drawing graphs.

no, it was 2x - 2.

I got 2x-2

what was the answer choice for the one with 2^m = 4^n? i put B, but i forgot which answer that was…

For the one that asked what value Y reaches as x goes to 3/2 was no boundary right?

Oh, and the one about the paper folding was 10 feet?

And, for the one about the phone calls, my friend says it should be 4/9 since the first can be local, second one long dist, or the other way around. so 2/9 x 2… i put 2/9 too :(

I think i got 12 feet for the folding; for the m one, did you have to do elimination to solve for m?

Rupertpumpkin, awesome name. I love entourage!

Btw box and whisker plot?? I didn’t have one.
2x-2 is right pianoman. I just had +, but it’s minus.

@Protoslag

If x=acrtany then square root of (1+y^2)=?
A.lsinxl
B.lcosxl
C.lsecxl
Dlcscxl
E.lcotxl

If x=arctany, then y = tanx

Substitute and you have root(1+tan^2(x))=?
We know that 1+tan^2(x)= sec^2(x) because of our identities,

so the square root of (sex^2(x)) = |secx|

the answer to the ones with m and n was 5, i think that was A…there’s an explanation on an earlier page on this thread.

the other two are correct.

Speaks up in drony voice 2x-2 is correct. Bams hammer down on desk. Next.

PS- Hey everyone, don’t do Math 1 discussion on here. It’ll get confusing for those of us who took only M2.

Protoslg - you’re talking about Math I. The interquartile range refers to (Q3-Q1)1.5, so the range would actually have been (14)1.5 = 21.

Does anyone remember the answer to the one that was like (6n^2)/3n =/= 2n? It asked which one had to be right…

Also, how about the question with the 5 equations, and you had to find out which one had 2 real solutions? The choices were:
A. (x^2+8)(x^2+4)=0
B. (x^3-8)(x^2+5)=0
C. (x^2-1)(x^2+1)=0
and then I don’t remember the rest…

@sirena

I think I put C.
