November 2010 - United States History Discussion Thread

Jsungoh, that tripped me up as well at first. But I think the key to this question is “recruited workers BY CRAFT”, which the AFL did not do. I guess we’ll have to wait for the score report to be sure though.

@ mastablasta
o___O whoa. interesting point… i dont know if sat ii goes that nitty-gritty about questions. yeah, i guess so ): i hope for a perfect score lmao

GAH! Gadsen purchase! I read it and thought Mexican Cession ><

I think the Jane Addams one is urban poor…? Was there a separate question about settlement houses because I remember putting something down about helping immigrants as an answer, too.
Also, for the atomic bomb one, I think I put something along the lines of Japan would not give up otherwise. Probably wrong, come to think of it.
This board is making me sad, I think I’m going to stop reading xD

So easy a caveman could do it.

Picture of a Confederate Soldier asking for forgiveness compared to a picture of a black veteran man and whether he should get forgiveness: I believe the answer was something about black veterans deserving something

Map Question with the numbers to indicate which nations were involved in the WWI: ** I had trouble with this one. I know for sure I crossed out the choices that included 1 & 2 (Britain and France). I crossed out the choice that included 9 (Russia). Then there was one answer left, right? For sure, the answer was the one that included Germany and not Britain, France, or Russia.

I didn’t know what the other countries were, lol **

What was the difference between the England and Spanish colonization of the new world?: ** Spanish more active in christianizing…**

We’re allowed to talk about the questions NOW, right?

The CIO allowed in ALL workers in of a particular trade…so I put A, which was like African Americans, unskilled workers, women

oh and what was the answer to the “buy U.S. government bonds” political ad?

^^Getting immigrants to support the war.

Regarding the CIO question, you guys are in fact right. I apologize, haha.

its sorta ridiculous how many q’s sat ii us history recycles. if you look on the previous forums from past sat ii us history q’s in 2010 and 2009, at least 30% of this exam had the same q’s.

Another question: which native american tribes did spanish encounter the most?

I put Hopi and Zuni, but it was a flat out guess…

^haha yeah I remember that question. When I first saw it I said to myself “is this question serious?”

I ended up guessing Inuit and Aleut but it’s probably wrong

I also guessed Hopi and Zuni… I THINK they were in the southwest-ish area??

^lol, I think Aleuts are like Alaskan or something.

Difference between Spain and England (all of the following except)? I said Christianity which I don’t think is right.

Spain definitely colonized North America before the English…I think that was the answer to the Spain-Britain one
Was the Jamestown colony meant for finding gold and getting profits?

The answer for the Indians is Hopi and Zuni (confirmed).

i think the political cartoon first answer was punishing confederate politicians and the second answer was radical republicans

wow, not a lot of USH test takers this month lol. Is it always like this?

anyways another question I remembered: how were the dutch and french settlers similar (or something like that) - was the answer that they focused on trading for their homeland or something?

Bump! We need to figure out as many questions as possible, guys.

Sorry for the double post, but I posted at the same time as jlewis. Yeah, I went with being focused on trading. I’m confident about that one.
