November 2011 Math 2

BOXPLOTS
what boxplots give you are five-number summaries: the lowest score, the 25the percentile (1st quartile ), the middle score (median=Q2), the 75th percentile (Q3), and largest score.

Nope, if you cancel one, you cancel all.

Dang… I wish there was a list with all the answers to it. It’s annoying flippin through the pages lol

I can send my math I this time (800 I think) and math II last time (780) without colleges seeing my mathII this time though, right?

LIST

 1. Period of y = abs(tan 2x) – > pi/2
 2. Triangle with sides sq rt(37), 3,4  sin theta = .866
 3. Question#50 (complex numbers) – >99th term=-2-i or -2i-1 (depending on whether 10th was -1+2i or -2+i)
 4. Area to be painted – >798
 5. Probability sum > 100 – >½
 6. Boxplot  50%
 7. Exponential growth/population – >321 million
 8. Exponential regression – >24 weeks
 9. Function with property f(x+3)=f(x)f(3) – > e^x
 10. Value of x for which 2/(3sinx+2) is ) undefined – > 3.87
 11. Smallest Standard deviation : 8, 10, 10, 10, 10, 12
 12. Number of edges of pentagonal prism – >15
 13. Video rental – >x/(0.6d)
 14. I. x^2=2^x II. >, III. < – >I, II, III
 15. Which equation is different?  (E) b=(-a)^2
 16. Graph transformation  -f(-x)
 17. Closest ellipse comes to y=15 – > 12
 18. Sin A = ½ – >cos A = tt (3)/2
 19. Ways to find answers to f(x) = g(x) – > I and III only
 20. If sin A = 0.3, and A is in quadrant II, what’s cosA? – > -0.98
 21. Geometric sequence – >2nd term= -6
 22. Prime numbers/counterexample n=15
 23. Similar triangles – >7.1? 4.7?

Then there are a few posts about questions I don’t remember:

jman010295 “I do remember the sin^2 one which u got sin=1/1.61 so theta is 38.4 I believe”

iiClickSend: “did anyone get 4% for a cone question? D: i forget how it was worded exactly”

joepaterno23 “anyone remember the y-k= a(h-k) graph?“

It depends on the college. Some colleges require you to send ALL SAT scores, and some let you choose which ones to send.

20 is -.953 not -.98

For 20, I forgot to update it to -0.95
Does anyone see any other mistakes/omissions?

Hiking7610, YOU ARE AWESOME for compiling that list. Thank you :)!

Can anyone explain the following problems? I can’t recall doing these…so any additional info would help jog my memory:

Thanks in advance :D

Ways to find answers to f(x) = g(x) – > I and III only

does anyone know which answer choice this was? D or E?..I think I put E

I think the choice was E.

well there goes my 800…what does 4 omitted and 4 wrong look like scorewise?

I think that’s like a 770 or 80

Anyone else find this difficult to finish in the alloted time compared to SAT lvl1 and the standard math section on the SAT? I normally have time to go back and check but i was disapppointed at having 5-6 left to go still…

Laurier:

Scratch #18–it was replaced by #20 (see page 9 of the thread).

2. was the one you had to use law of cosines to get the angle between the sides of length 3 & 4, then find the sin of that angle.

23 You were given similar triangles: one with a side of length 9; the other with sides 2 & 3, I think.

Here’s the updated list:

looking at that list makes me very nervous…

due to the lack of members in this discussion, i wouldn’t assume that the list is 100% correct.

Was 24 weeks answer choice B or C?

But you have to admit, this is College Confidential ;)

shyguy - Likewise! Will you retake a 770/780? Or cancel your score, then retake?
