prep courses are overrated, expensive and just a waste of time. go to the library where books are free and only learn the things you want to learn!

I went up 160 in math and 180 in CR by doing 2 simple things.

Math: borrow(or buy if you want to) an average sat prep book. do only the hard math problems at the end of each practice test. doing the easy problems(like finding the area of a triangle) is a waste of time.

CR: you have already or will probably read this in some prep book for CR. THE ANSWER IS IN THE PASSAGE. i had read this before my 1st time and scored a 560. this may not mean much to you but when you realize that THE ANSWER MUST BE THERE, you will improve drastically. don’t pick answers that you think sound right or politically correct. FIND THE ANSWER. it is there.
hope this helps!

Wow. lol. And people said MY scores were good? They should see the ones here. Impressive.
Not necessarily looking to get into an Ivy League school but I met my goals for the school’s I’m applying to and at least improved greatly from last time. My first time was a “go and take it, see what happens” thing. I wish my brain was stimulated at school more often. I honestly think if I had better advice and guidance(like serious prep and taking the test earlier instead of the end of junior year), I could have easily gotten 2100+.

I’m taking Biology and Literature Subject tests this December.

I’m G11 and have been on and off studying for the SAT since taking it for CTY when I was younger. I really wanted to get a 2300+ in one go, but I’m guessing I’ll have to retake this in January and study hard as hell in the mean time. I know I fudged CR because I wasn’t paying attention and ran out of time in the 9th CR section. Totally screwed me over.
What really puzzles me is how 1 wrong, 2 omitted, and a 9 essay give me a 730 in W. Seems a bit harsh.

CR 680
M 800
W 730

CR has been a funny spot for me. When I took the SAT in 8th grade I got 680. That was my highest section at the time. After 2,3 years, it’s still 680, despite the hundreds of words I’ve learned and all the questions I’ve done. It’s the only section that just.won’t.improve >.<
