Yea. The whole point of subject tests is to show colleges proficiency in a specific subject. Just because our parents were Chinese shouldn’t make our scores pointless… The language still takes time and effort to learn you can’t just memorize hundreds and hundreds of characters overnight. Besides I know plenty of Chinese Americans who either a)are pretty terrible even by abc standards or b) dont speak it at all. But even so, colleges will look at your scores contextually which is the reason why I’m using Chinese as like a 3rd extra subject test. It can only help.

I had a question for one of them, like he liked the movied so he 又 or 再, 看一次? i put 又,but then when i got home and asked my parents, they were like its 再。 im like. Uh oh.

@hagzz completely agree, I’m using it as a third one too!
@asapthe I put down 又, in context that one seemed better because it emphasized how he was watching it the second time. My mom said that’s right, but I feel like they could both work.

Should I take the SAT II Chinese if I moved to US from China in 4th grade? I feel like taking the test might not be very useful if I am already native. By the way, do you have to write out the characters or is it all multiple choice? I think I forgot most of my Chinese writing skills. I am really good at reading though because I read a lot of Chinese novels even after moving here.

You could take it but you should probably use it as your 3rd/backup one. You would definitely want to get an 800 though to prove you’re really fluent. You don’t have to write any characters, it’s all multiple choice listening/grammar/reading from what it seems like you could get an 800 easily.

I thought the test was kinda hard. I only have taken Chinese for three years in high school. I I’m still taking it my senior year at the IB SL level. I am a black kid with no ties to China whatsoever. I hope I get at least over a 500 or something. I struggled the most with the listening section cuz I have a hard time with tones. The curve probz gonna be really harsh since mostly all the natives take this test, oh well…

What was the answer to the next to last listening question…did the man want to buy a newspaper or have his daughter bring something…(I thought I heard the word newspaper but IDK )

@hagzzz just reread one of your posts I’m pretty sure the last problem’s answer was delay it’s progress, not onset. after Chinese school today I learned that I got 3 wrong (at least), 1. answer was 走快一点 2。answer was 向来 3。answer was secretary.

Oh and on one of the listening ones ( I think it was number 10), where it was asking about what film she liked…was the answer romance films or sports?

@fireonice oh my bad I actually meant to type delay its progress not delay its onset… sorry for the confusion.

@abcgirl I’m pretty positive the man wantd her daughter to bring her something. And the tv(I think it was tv not film) answer was romance series.

@hagzz Thank you. …that means I’ve missed at least one…oh well derp :(

@fireonice do you remember the component of the question? post it on then I can tell you which one is correct cauz it’s my mother language.

definitely 又~cauz we Chinese speak like that, we actually never use再when one liked a movie and he or she watches it again.

do you guys know what the answer to the guilin question is? i thought that one was hard…

guilin was yi

scores are up!!!
