***November 2013 - Literature***

I didn’t answer insulting/mocking. The Nicus passage was frustratingly ambiguous to me.

i think most of the test was incredibly ambiguous and harder than mcgraw hill (the book i used). i also kind of didnt pace myself as well as i had hoped too but i hope i did OK.

There were 5 passages correct?

I think there are six:
Joseph and Mrs. Slipshot (?)
The Dance Poem
Yolanda
Soft vs. Weathered hands
Poem a/b Mr. Oldman the poet
Poem a/b North wind and snow

Anyone remember questions from the Soft Vs Weathered Hands passage

I was confused by the last sentence of the soft vs. weathered hands passage, talking about the sentimentality of the hands, blah blah blah… I don’t remember many questions though

was one of the answers wit vs light? and the biggest sense was touch?

I answered touch and for the sentimentality question I answered misguided.

xCossack same

The wit vs. light was for the Mr. Oldman poem I think

What was the question you answered wit vs light to and what did you anwer touch for? Also do you remember what the other choices were for the sentimentality one

what was the sentimentality question?

Wit vs. Light was a choice in the question asking which comparison was not present in the passage. I didn’t select wit/light.
The question referring to touch asked which sense was emphasized the most or something like that

Did you guys get what the ‘noble error’ Oldman made was?

I think I answered something about success for the noble error question.

For noble error I’m pretty sure it was “more elegant but less forceful prose.”

did you say that (what nature gives the young) is about limits? because language ultimately limits us.

and was the big problem of fame and that fame makes writers not great or something

^Emerald that was the question about maturing over time, but I got that answer too.

i don’t remember what the question was that had the answer ‘limits’, but i remember answering rhythm for it

and also what was the answer for the noble error then? was that the same question that had fame for an answer?

what did everyone get for the question in the snow and storm poem about the shift between the two verses? was it close observation to fanciful interpretation?
