Wow, I can’t believe that this hasn’t been made yet. 8 days till the big day, so until then please post tips, progress, questions, etc.

I’m almost at a 1900 I got an 1840, and I have been practicing like crazy.
Anyone got any tips for CR and Math? I got a 570 on CR, and 650 on the Math section. I would greatly appreciate any tip that would increase my score in a week.

Thank you.

This’ll be my first time taking it…not expecting to do too great, since I haven’t really had too much of a chance to study and I’m taking it mostly to gauge my performance and see where I really need to improve. I’ll probably have to retake it in the spring (goal is to not have to do any testing in the fall).

lol GL guys. I’m not taking it again until January.

First time too.
Good luck guys!

Goodluck guys. Not taking this test ever again, but I am doing subjects.

I’ll be taking the november SAT. Goal is 2300+. I’m telling myself that if I get

Same as above

for math i suggest getting dr chungs sat math book… 5 days and you’ll be set

I’m taking the November SAT too. I took the October and got a 2310 (800 CR, 800 W, 710 M) but I know I can do better. I’m not sure how I got a 710 math last time because it’s usually my best section. I’m more worried about the essay and CR vocab, because I felt I was somewhat lucky last time with the essay prompt and the vocab words used. Hopefully I don’t make any dumb mistakes on math and the essay prompt and vocab are okay for me this time! I haven’t prepped really at all since before the October test besides taking the PSAT and looking over some math prep books, but my plan for this week is to do a full test tomorrow, sections each night, and a full test and a few essays on Friday because I have off from school. I really hope I’m lucky this time and don’t have to take it again!

Any suggestions to improve CR and (especially) Writing? Writing seems to be my worst section…

Will november sat(international) be same as some previous test given in US? What do you guys think?

retaking after a 2300 in October (750 in math :(

@cello I worldwide recommend against retaking the SATs. 2300 is good enough go any school in the states and takin it again to eke out another few points will hurt you more than it will help. Colleges don’t want score obsessed people; you’re probably better off starting a business or something

Yes I really need help to get a higher score in math … could you help?

@SAT1998
Do you know a specific issue that you’re having with the math section?

@WritingonStars: To get better at reading, the technique I found most helpful was that of playing devil’s advocate on the answer choices. Usually, three of the choices are obviously wrong, so it comes down to two choices that look equally good. From there, ask yourself the question “How is this answer choice WRONG” instead of “How is this answer choice correct”. This should allow you to knock that other answer choice out.

For writing, make sure you know your grammar rules. Only very few rules are tested, so there are only so many questions they can ask you, and they’re all variations on these grammar rules. When in doubt, if it doesn’t sound right, it’s probably wrong (key word: probably; make sure you look at the other answer choices/analyze them according to the rules).

@SAT1998: For math, I recommend that you use your calculator on every question (even though none of the questions really need a calculator). This obviously reduces arithmetic errors, and you’re more prone to arithmetic errors because you would probably be nervous while taking your test, and this leads to a greater probability of making a mistake. Other than that, make sure you UNDERSTAND the mathematical relationships tested; simply knowing them will only easily get you through the first 75% or so of the questions. Try deriving the equations on the formula chart they give you. This will lead to a higher understanding of the concepts. If you need help with this, PM me.

Anyway, I’m quite nervous for the big day… this is my first SAT ever.

I’ve never done a practice essay until this morning, and the results are in the link below. If you want to read/score it (please score!), take a look at the link.
