@joeweller I think I remember getting no error for the first one but I don’t remember the second one at all. Does anyone else who got an 800 in writing remember?
@Crzcorgi … are you kidding?
@AGoodFloridian i feel you… SAT has wrecked us all
I went up 110 from my last sat which is pretty cool!
October:
M:770
W:670
CR:650
overall:2090
November
M:750(whoops… I felt like it was way harder for me this time)
W:790 w/ 9 essay (honestly… was expecting a higher essay score)
CR:660
overall:2200
Good luck to everyone retaking in December!!!
Hi @joeweller I received an 80 in the MC part of writing. I remember that for #29, I got some tense error since the first word of the sentence was Today. To address your second question, I put “But others.”
I did okay but I got a 560 CR!!! Can anyone help me improve? W and M was solid 700s. I really want to improve CR to at least 650. I didn’t take October so I can’t compare, but the passages were really difficult I thought this time.
Thank you everyone and congrats!
Also does anyone know what the general score in essay writing will cause the final writing score to stay the same?
Thanks
CR:660 M:750 W:790 (79 w/ a 9 essay) (Up 300 points from may!!)
I mean my goal was only a 2100 this time so 2200 is certainly amazing don’t get me wrong but I was really hoping for a more even distribution of scores. On the two practice tests I took, I got straight 710s down the line, I hate the thought of having to retake but it might be worth it. Any alternatives that would qualify my score, maybe the lit subject test or a 5 on the AP English Language and Comp exam?
CR 570 M 800 W 620 (9 essay) total 1990
First SAT I took.
I thought I got a 1600 haha
@Suffering Congrats on a stellar score, especially for a first try!
@NotIvyYet That’s an incredible improvement, definitely a score to be proud of. I might try the test once more, but it’s ultimately your call, and you could make up for the CR score with a great subject test/AP exam score. Good luck.
Final score as I’m a senior and I can’t take the december test:
CR: 710
M: 620
W: 680, 9 essay
2010
Up from a 1890 when I first took it in March 2015. I was hoping for a bit higher, but honestly just happy to break 2000. That was always my goal. Gratz to everyone who met their goal and the ones who didn’t, just keep working. I promise you will get there.
Also just to map out my score growth
Sophomore PSAT - 151
Junior PSAT - 169
Junior SAT (went in cold surprisingly) - 1890
Senior SAT - 2010
Studied my cheeks off this summer.
@dsi411 Did you have a 79 or 80 multiple choice subscore? If you had an 80, then we know that no error was the correct answer to #29 since you put that.
@CCswami I got an 80, but there is a chance I did not put no error and I just remembered wrong.
@renegade23 Damn I wish I had a 710 CR >.< Congrats on your score though!
Hello!
Im thinking you guys can probably help me
I got my scores recently for this November’s SAT and I was quite surprised at my math and essay score. I honestly thought I would have done so much better.
I took the SAT math subject test earlier and I got a much higher score than my math sat score. Not only that, I felt pretty confidant on all my answers during the math SAT. I think I may have skipped a bubble on part of the math section causing my answers to align with the wrong questions.
As for the essay, I got the same score that I got in the 7th grade. That alone should tell you something went wrong. My writing has tremendously improved since then. However, I am not worrying too much about this, since they are dropping the requirement to take the essay due to it’s inability to accurately judge a student’s writing ability.
Anyway, my scores are in the higher end of the middle 50% for the university I am planning to go to. So, I think I could get in. However, I want to have a SAT score that accurately represents my ability. I want to feel good about my SAT scores. Should I retake the SAT or should I just accept the fact that it was a unlucky test for me?
By the way, I am not using specifics in this post, because I do not want to hurt anyone’s feelings. I see people complain about scores that I would only dream about having and it makes me feel bad about my abilities. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.
@AnnaLee79 I might recommend retaking if you’re very confident you would do better and the price isn’t an issue. If your university superstores, I would even more strongly recommend retaking since it’s easier to raise a weak subscore instead of raising the composite score. If you don’t want to retake, I still think you would have a strong shot at your university if you’re close to the 75th percentile, assuming other parts of your application are up to par. Good luck getting into whichever college you’re referring to.
I was wondering if anyone has any tips on studying or preparing for the essay. I got an 8 on the essay and thought I did much better! Thanks!
@krauser126 Yeah. I’m honestly just happy with my growth. I know some people here see ~2000 as a first try score, but coming from a 151 PSAT, I’m just happy to even touch 2000.
@renegade23 I understand coming from someone who went from a 170 PSAT to 1970 on a practice unofficial SAT and then getting over 2150 on the November . Anyone would be excited about such improvements. Hoping Dec. gets me into 2250+
Wow, just checked the score report: -2 on reading is 790. That’s aggravating.
