November 2017 SAT Discussion Thread

…how did it go for everyone?

My son says the reading passages were harder than expected: he had to double check.

I definitely agree with the the belief that the reading was harder than anticipated. I usually do fairly well on the reading, but I (unfortunately) left multiple blank on this test and had to guess on a few.

english was the easiest standardized test section I’ve ever had, in my opinion. I finished with around eight minutes to go and believe I scored super well, so hopefully this will bring up my dreadful reading score.

math was a little easier than anticipated though is the section I always struggle on, so I left two grid-in questions on the no calculator portion blank and had to guess on a few of them. however, the math was still surprisingly easy. I used my calculator around three-four times even when allowed and it was for the last few questions. (I had absolutely no clue on the question regarding earth’s center [I think it was question number thirty on my test], so I took a guess.)

overall, I think I did better than last time but worse than my goal, so it’s a little bittersweet, haha.

Actually I think this time the reading and math 1 section are really hard…I did even have enough time to double check what I had marked on the answer sheet… hopefully I did mark the correct answer on the correct number since I always did problems from the end to the beginning

BTW, I am an ESL student…I scored 600 on October. The reading section on today’s exam is the most difficult one I have even done before (beside those practice reading passages on Barron’s guide)…but I do think the writing section is pretty esay…I only BS two problems on the writing section, hopefully it can bring up my English score:)

I definitely agree with everyone about the reading section and talking with everyone else, I think most people thought the reading section was significantly harder than expected. Personally, I thought the math sections were the opposite, far easier than what I expected. Hopefully, since everyone else thought the reading part was hard, the curve should be better…

@kkayli27 is the SAT curved? i read somewhere that it’s not.

@kalons I believe it’s curved based on difficulty but not the students that took it.

I thought the reading was easier than usual, the writing was normal, and the math was normal.

I thought the reading was difficult …

I thought the reading was much easier than anticipated. The last reading was challenging, but I felt confident. The writing section was not difficult. There were three of which I was unsure of my decision. This was my first attempt as a junior. Math is the bane of my existence. I’ll need to improve my performance on that section to equal my reading/writing. Thank goodness for super scoring!!

2 more days until scores are released!

What time?

@kroplady The earliest time is 1 AM EST on Nov 17 but the CB’s official twitter account is saying on a “rolling basis”…meaning if we don’t see our scores at 1 AM EST, they’ll be released at some time through out the day.

^ Thanks!

Scores are coming in here. S scored a 1500!

Got a “your score is pending” at around 6:45 which is a change from the original message earlier this morning that said scores would be available soon. So frustrated!

Did it say to check to make sure you don’t owe a balance? Mine did which is odd.

@apraxiamom where do you live?

@minniemouse143 yes it did…have never seen that message before and have no messages on My SAT that indicate any problem with registration payment. Also had no problem getting August scores…so I don’t understand what is going on.
