November 20th auditions

Hi anyone who is going to the Nov. 20th auditions. I have already pm’d with msc who will be there with her son. Anyone else?

We are coming 11/20! Excited to see the school. Heard so much about the beautiful campus. I’m also looking forward to a sligtly warmer climate. I understand it will be sunny and in the 60’s on Friday.

We’ll be done there with someone else from my D’s school. They’re applying to the music department. Also seeing one of last year’s high school grads who is majoring in dance there. ROAD TRIP!

Warmer climate VKS? We are from Florida so we’re looking forward to cooler weather and hopefully some fall foliage! Anyone going to see a show other than the dance? We like dance, just wondered about a show.

I’m afraid all there is right now is the fall dance concert. The fall musical production of Kiss Me, Kate finished a week or so ago. The students have been auditioning since then for all the shows for NEXT semester. There will be a senior musical theatre production, Assassins, Dec. 6-8.

Mom at home…yes, a warmer climate. I woke up this morning to 34 degrees. yuk. It’s noon now and its warmed up to 46. Not much foliage either - many of the trees are already bare. Although I imagine that’s nothing compared to what we’ll face when we visit Syracuse & Ithaca in January! No, unfortunately we won’t be able to stay for any shows. We have to catch a flight to the next audition.

Well we made it. Drove 10hrs from Florida. Trying to catch a good nights rest. See all you thespians and moms in the morning. Lets find each other Ann and VKSmom.

I auditioned November 20th and received a call from Catherine McNeela on friday notifying me that I had been accepted into the MT Program! Has anyone else received a call??

Congratulations! My son loves the program. Send me a PM if you have any questions.

Wonderful, wm2124! When you hear back so quickly, do you have to accept right away? Or can you wait until all the auditions are done? Anyway, they must have loved you. Good job! :)

Congratulations wm2124! Seeing that calls have been made, looking for a letter here. That first letter will be hard. This journey is not for the faint of heart. I am amazed by these MT applicants dedication and fortitude. Best to all!

My daughter was accepted last year in December. I still remember her excitement and tears of joy when she received the phone call from Catherine McNeela. To answer Classicalbk’s question above, in my daughters case she sent in a letter of intent, but did not make her final decision till all auditions and offers were received. Congratulations to wm2124, Elon is a fabulous program and school!!

Do they notify early action **and **regular decision in December if they’ve decided to accept?

My daughter was regular decision. She did not hear academic acceptance from Elon till March. The phone call was just to let her know she was accepted to the MT program.

I auditioned in October and have heard some some have already gotten letters of rejection on Wednesday and Thursday. I have not gotten a letter of rejection or a phone call… hopefully i’ll get a phone call or a deferral soon!

Thanks everyone! The only thing is that although I got accepted into the MT program, I was deferred ED from Elon Academically, does anyone know the chances of getting in? Will this help me get in?

We have not heard yet is anyone else still waiting??

Yes, I am still waiting to hear…

My D got her deferral today in the mail…she is excited, yet doesn’t want to get too worked up just yet…we’ve hit two MT auditions so far, with the bulk remaining…Chicago Unifieds, and a trip to Wright State and O.C.U. campuses in the Spring. She had not had the writing portion on the ACT, so she just did that this past Saturday…don’t know how we overlooked that. She has a nice merit scholarship to Otterbein already, and we are just waiting for the talent part of the process.

My wife and I visited the Elon campus a couple of weeks before D’s audition on Halloween weekend. Catherine allowed us to sit in on a rehearsal of Kiss Me Kate. D and I saw KMK on the 30th and the 31st…and on Friday night, Charles Strouse was in the house. (sorry!) The production was top-notch…I am a musical theatre actor myself of 30+years (including Opera) and the production was as good and in many ways better than a good portion of the professional productions I have seen over the years.

The faculty, the students and everyone we came into contact were so nice, and some students asked my daughter if she wanted to hang out and watch scary movies on Halloween.
She was sold…not to mention, how beautiful the campus is…replete with swans swimming in the lake by the performing arts center.

Even if she doesn’t get accepted, Elon has set a high standard, and I have a feeling auditioning for some of the other schools might not have the same impact.

Yeah, I have a bunch of friends who’ve gotten their defferal letters, so I’m sure they’re on their way! Congrats to all, I can’t wait to audition myself!
