November Sat 2 Test Date?! How Does This Work?!

Princeton accepts the November SAT 2 test date. However, I called the college board to see if I could have my scores rushed and they said that they didn't do that. They also told me that they cannot send them out until DECEMBER 5TH!! So, basically, I am wondering how Princeton handles this. Do they review files that don't have all the Sat 2's?...or do they wait until Decmber 5th to begin reviewing files that are missing the test? AH!

Sorry, I accidentally hit reply twice.

I called on Friday and the admissions officer said that if you put Princeton down as a score recipient, you dont even need to rush them.

I have no idea how they calculate it though.

Thanks! Yeah...this is so wierd! I wonder how they do that...I mean it seems like it would be tough to leave ALL the files missing an SAT 2 for the very end right before decisions are due! Does anyone know how this works?

I'm sure we're not the only ones taking the Nov SAT test date...it would thus seem foolish for them to leave all the incomplete applications until December. There must be a way they do it, I'm just not sure how.

Perhaps they have a point system, and depending on your score, it moves you up or down accordingly as soon as they get your score, and they're able to determine a decision.

i dunno jon, that sounds too cut and dry, and way too objective of a decision

yeah i agree which is why im confused...does that mean they review incomplete applications then?

probably.

gettingin, this is my theory, which is based on practicality. They probably look at your previous performance in that subject area and the grade you receive in school. they probably just make an educated "guess," and determine your decision holistically. as they say, one number isn't going to make or break you.

for someone who is on the border (ex. have lower grades in certain subject areas), they may put their app files on the side and consider them again after the scores come out.

how about for SAT I? I took the administration in January and got 2240, and then i took it today and i'm thinking i really f***ed up.... i could cancel my score, or just leave it.... what should i do? i indicated on my princeton app that i WOULD be taking the SAT I in november... but i already have a 2240 in january... and i do NOT feel good about today's administration at ALL....

HELP ME!??! should i cancel? not cancel? i'm thinking i screwed up by like... quite a bit.... definitely at least 2100... but not too much over 2100 :S....

HELP ME!!!!!

Don't worry about it. Princeton uses your best scores anyway.

RBTrix, they only consider the highest scores.

so even if you only improved in one section, it would still be helping you. if not, it won't hurt you

Yeah... but i heard that it would probably suck to have your january scores reasonably okay... and then have the november score... 10 months after i first took the SAT... to actually suck more! i mean.. everyone talks about upward trends... and i have this DOWNWARD trend... argh... is it really okay??

RBTrix, what the hell are you worried about? You already have an excellent score. I fail to understand why you even took it again. I wouldnt worry about it one bit.

yeah i AM regretting that i took it again... so when you say i shouldn't worry about it, you're saying that princeton won't care if they see this ugly downard trend thing ?

RBTrix
unlike grades, where colleges expect upward trends, standardized test scores are not viewed the same way.

college adcom reps know and understand that some days might just be bad days, and can be just a fluke. regardless of when, i really think they just look at highest scores.

besides, would they not get a bit skeptical if you put the nov. date on it, and your report came in (after nov.) w/o new scores?

woah, this forum allows us to say hell?

hell hell hell <-----isn't that a curse word?

lol :)

Pretty much, RBTrix. I went down the second time I took it (overall went down by 20 points) but I went up 40 points in math, which is all I cared about. I still wouldnt worry, it wont hurt you. :)

well, obviously they would know i cancelled my scores

ummm if they can see things as a fluke.. would they consider my january score a fluke??? :S mannnnn i'm freaking out.......

hopefully... if they saw my IB english as a 7... and my IB math as a 7... and my SAT II math as 800... they won't doubt think my 2240 was a fluke.... at least i hope....

hahaha this insanity i'm displaying is simply a factor revealing how freakishly crazy i am about getting into P'ton.....

so then, downward trends for SATs dont matter then?
