No they don't. Don't worry about it. Statistically, people with really high scores on the SAT have a tendency to go down sometimes on the SAT (that was true after I took the SAT the first time for math). They know that, they take that into account, and unless you get a really really low score (like low low 600's), they're going to focus on your best scores. It's a win-win situation for you, so don't worry about it. Regardless, SAT scores are not the end-all-be-all for admission anyway.

wouldn't it be more likely that they'd take my higher score into account if i got like 600 on CR or something? I mean, that's a HUGE gap so obviously something funny happened...

yes, i think thats what we're saying...

think about it this way
wats more likely:
1) you had a bad day and got a crappy score
OR
2) you just got extremely mega ultra-lucky and just happened to guess most of the questions right to get a high score?

lol yes, what i'm concerned about is if i do worse, but not crazily worse... like... 20-30 worse in each section:S

i love the irony of it! :D

it seems as if you're actually wishing for a substantially lower score, rather than a slightly lower one.

yeah isn't that funny?

i've encountered so many experiences where failing would be a lot better than doing slightly bad... anyway so is there an issue in doing slightly bad? or am i fine?

I'm in the same situation. I sent in my app with two SAT subjects with unlisted scores. I got my French score just a few days ago after I had mailed the app, and I took my other SAT Subject test today. I'm pretty sure I got at least 780 or 790 today, but I got 720 on my French test. Will this hurt me?

The difference between a 780 and 720 is minimal. Do you really think it will hurt you?

lol wat about between 780 and 700?

Who knows? I don't think I got 780, I know I got one wrong, and I may have slipped up on two more to get me a 790. It was in Japanese BTW.

back to the oringinal question about how pton handles the nov test date... I bet princeton rejects a bunch of people who haven't taken 3 SAT IIs yet just because they would be rejected no matter what their SAT II score is. So they don't even have to look at their nov SAT II. They also probably already know they are accepting some people who took the nov SAT II for the same reason. So there's probably not a huge number of people who need to take SAT IIs again who are really on the border...since one SAT II is not incredibly important since they already have other scores from you... and they might just review the accepted peoples' SAT II scores to make sure they're okay... that's my guess

that makes a lot of sense

RBTrix, how does your 2240 break down?

800 M 740 W 700cr, why?

Yeah Kraor lol (Roark) that does make sense. But what do you think they do when a person only had 2 SAT II's going in and this third one wasnt just to see if they could do better but to fulfill the requirement? Do you think they still review the file and make a decision and just look at the score at the end or something?

hmm well they probably already know whether that person is being accepted/rejected before the nov test scores arrive because 1 SAT II can't really make/break an applicant. i mean maybe it could in some situations, and that would be where they review it at the end. also, the test scores probably get there before they finish accepting people, so maybe they skip applications without 3 SAT IIs and review them at the end. maybe they even get test scores before we do. and since scores are just posted online, it seems they have almost right up until dec 15 to make decisions.

Wow, RBTrix, that's my exact breakdown too.

/random
