November SAT for Early Decision?

Can you take the November SAT if applying Early Decision? Will Columbia get the results in time? Their website is somewhat vague.
Thanks!

Call the admissions office, but I doubt it. Early decisions are out in mid December. Realistically, how could they wait for your November scores? But definitely call.

Yes they accept Nov SAT scores for early decision.

definitely call the admissions office, but past experience shows that they do arrive for ED

Yes they do accept nov. test score for ED

To past ED applicants / admits - would a Nov test date for my 2nd subject test - possibly push me into deferred pile ?

ratz - how would anyone here know that?

that is like saying well of course i would’ve been accepted if only i hadn’t taken the SAT in november. there are many reasons you might be deferred and it may have nothing to do with you taking or not taking the SAT in november.

so even if you found someone here who was deferred ED, you are asking the applicant to know why the admissions committee deferred them.

i know you are worried about being admitted and improving your chances, but at the end of the day we are all speculators. some of us have more insight than others. however, none of us are admissions officers so whatever is said take with a grain a salt.

what we can offer are recitations of some facts. which some folks have done before: columbia accepts the november SAT test date. just let them know you will be taking the test then and send your scores directly to columbia.

and as a general rule folks - unless you know for sure, don’t post. i’m looking at you looney. there have been many times i don’t post because i am not positive and want to wait to see if someone speaks up. if no one speaks up then perhaps adding something to calm the OPs nerves is okay such as where to find informaiton. otherwise you send the OP confusin signals.

to OPs out there - when considering starting a thread, refrain from doing so until after you scower the website before posting. either on here or on the columbia website there is so much information that posts without merit can create a lot of tension in this online environment. please be considerate when posting. it will make your life, our lives, a lot easier.

and in case you didn’t know, i found this wonderful nugget on the admissions standardized testing page in 15 seconds.

“You may take standardized tests as late as November for Early Decision and January for Regular Decision but you must be sure to request that your scores be reported directly to Columbia every time you take a standardized test.” - [Required Standardized Testing | Columbia University Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/applications/firstyear/testing)

to reiterate golfer, the language is pretty darn clear there.

also a quick study of the october-november ED panic threads of 2009,8,7 and 6 will indicate the brain drain of each incoming batch. folks on this forum get dumber by the yr.
