I'm applying Early Decision to Penn, and I'm considering retaking the SATs in November to see if I can improve at all. I've been searching around the forums and I'm getting mixed responses as to whether or not I have to rush the scores or to just include them on my free score report. Does anyone know for sure what to do?

This is what it says on their site:

"Early Decision candidates should take these examinations during the junior year, but certainly no later than November of the senior year."

Penn Admissions: Required Tests

And then it says THIS on their alumni site:

"For applying to Penn, Early Decision candidates should take SAT and ACT exams either during the junior year or in the summer before the senior year, but no later than November. Early Decision candidates who opt for November examinations must rush those scores."

Penn Alumni: Alumni Council on Admissions

The way I understand it and assuming that Penn is a school that uses electronic transfer to get their SAT scores (which I am pretty sure they are), the free scores go out the same day as when the result comes out. Afterwards, the scores are sent weekly from collegeboard, so depending on when you order the score, it goes out the next scheduled weekly send. Lastly, the rush score is sent out daily (or CB quotes a maximum of 2 days) after you order a rush score.

According to the webpage below (registration score reports and free scores are the same thing in this case):

[Send SAT Scores - Send SAT Results to Colleges, Universities or Scholarship Programs](<a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>Send SAT Scores to Colleges - SAT Suite | College Board)

“Also, using registration score reports ensures that test scores are sent to colleges as early as possible.”

Disclaimer: this is how I understand it, please double check with CB and/or the school for the definitive answer.

So rushing is practically the same thing as sending free reports with registration right? (electronic)?
