November

I'm going to retake SAT II's this November, and was planning to rush report the scores to Stanford(Applying SCEA). However, I just called and asked them if it would be fine to do that, and they answered, "well, we cannot guarantee you that the test scores will be on time for consideration, and also, if you do not feel that your application is incomplete(need to take some more tests), then we encourage you to apply regular decision)." So...should I still apply SCEA or RD?

They clearly indicate on the application that October is the last sitting they'll consider for SCEA. They probably know who they will accept before November results come out, so a "rush report" doesn't really sound plausible. Essentially, it's a decision between whether you want to apply early (better chances) with slightly lower scores or apply regular with a chance of higher scores. I wouldn't try to work against their system.

What were you SAT II scores from before?

uhhh doesn't decisions come out like mid-november?

I actually have:
780 Biology M, 800 Math IIC, 800 Korean (I'm a native speaker)

But I did horrible on SAT II Chem (500's) test I did horrible on, after taking regular chem over a 5week summer course. I'm pretty confident that I can get an 800 now, after studying a while.

Does SCEA really help that much?

yes it does!!! in my opinion, it reallly does if stanford is your first choice school, try your best to apply early.

chochocho, you should for sure apply SCEA if Stanford is your first choice. Take the SAT IIs again just in case you get deferred/rejected if you think it will help a lot.

When you shouldn't apply SCEA:
1) You have an upward trend in your grades and want to show that you can maintain high marks 1st semester senior year.
2) There is something that you think will really add to your application, like higher SAT scores or more time to work on essays or time to record vocal/instrumental performance
3) That school isn't actually your first choice

Even though the applicant pool is in theory stronger for SCEA, your chances ARE better if you apply early (or so Robin said last year, I trust that the former Director of Admissions knows what she's talking about!)
