I know that technically apps aren't due until tomorrow, but I didn't feel like waiting. I'm just curious, when were you first interested in Duke? What interested you? Be honest, now :)

I'm a huge sports fan, so I became interested in Duke because of their basketball legacy and success. I remember when I was eight my top two colleges that I wanted to go to were Nebraska (completely dominant football program in the mid/late nineties) and Duke. I just wanted to go to a school that won championships! Well, I still do, but I'm not including that in this whole process. Only later did I find out how amazing Duke is outside basketball.

Yeah, it would have to be basketball. I used to live in Knightdale NC which is preety close to Raliegh and the rest of the triangle. I have loved Duke since I could remember being good at basketball was good but great acedmics didnt hurt either. I always wanted to play for Coach K which up to 2 years ago was easily possible but servely hurt my left leg and I was out of the game until a year and a half ago and slowly getting it back.

they were the first to send me a letter in sophomore year after the PSATS. i looked, i checked them out and was impressed by rankings, found out my friends' parents both went to grad school there and loooved the campus, etc => LOVE.

Please don't tell me you only talked about bball in why duke essay...

I am such a hypocrite. As I am typing I am watching the Duke/Bucknell bball game after coming back from a 5.5 hour bball practice..wow. go duke!

I ended up not even talking about basketball at all. There was way too much that I wanted to write about, and way too little space to write it in. So sadly, my discussion on Duke's 2005 recruiting class (I think Paulus is going to be a stud) had to be cut.

how'd I first become interested in Duke?
my little brother, a big sports fan, has bugged me to apply there since I was in 10th grade. He wanted (and still does) discount basketball tickets and an excuse to travel down to NC to watch them.
Gotta love little brothers
