Here is an interesting thread i found from 2008:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/northwestern-university/504154-off-waitlist.html

if you look at a lot of the old waitlist threads, people talk about logging into their NU account before receiving any sort of notification that waitlist decisions are up from NU, then being surprised to find a Congrats.
This may sound stupid, but i have no idea what/where this online account is. Anyone know how to find it?

Northwestern doesn’t have a site where you can log in and view information like that. At least I don’t think so…

But does anybody know the best way to get off of the waitlist? Should I just sit and wait? Or should I email them telling them about my intention to enroll if granted admission?

If NU is your first choice and you would go there if admitted off the waitlist, you should send them a letter saying that. In the letter, also include any awards or other updates to your application since you submitted it in the fall. They may be more likely to admit you off the waitlist if they know that you will go!

Woah, the first calls started coming out on May 2nd?! That’s like…TOMORROW! :D

^ The calls probably won’t happen until Monday or Tuesday, I think.

Good luck everybody! I hope we all get off the waitlist. :)

Hey who could we email our update letters to? Like does anyone have the link? :)

ug-admission@northwestern.edu

or you can email that address, asking who your regional admissions officer is.

Why is everybody mailing their update letters so late? I sent mine early.

if you look back at the past few years, people on the waitlist reference some sort of applicants account that you can log into to see your waitlist decision. someone in 2008 claimed this is where to find it:
https://ugadm.northwestern.edu/application/
i went here and couldn’t find anything of the sort.
am i blind, or is NU just no longer using this system?

@emsies

NU doesn’t use the system anymore. I emailed them asking for login credentials around February, and they told me that.

bleh…
in my LOCI i sent off 2 weeks ago
, i said that “I am still most interested in attending your university” instead of “I promise to attend”…do you think it would’ve been better if I explicitly made a promise to them?
gah i hope i’m admitted off the waitlist
p.s does the fact that i am an international student help?

i rejected carnegie and am now enrolling in umich…but i would reject umich for northwestern if given the opportunity :D

thanks kiterunner18!

Anyone here anythingg? From like regional officers or anything?

I emailed mine to see if the office received my LOCI. She was very friendly about everything, and she thanked me for my patience in waiting for a final decision.

I contacted NU and they are still waiting on some of the mail to arrive since May 1st was the ‘postmark’ deadline!!

My best guess would be that we would start hearing from them in mid May!!

Ooooh yay. Post here if anyone hears anythinggg. :)

so no one has heard anything? do you think they’ll start calling next week hopefully?

Yupp I think it would be coming out in a week!!

Is it me or does anyone else find the ridiculous amount of views this thread and “waitlist quesion” has weird???

Are we waitlistees (Is that a word??Naah!) frantically returning to this thread or do we have an unbelievably large number of waitlist students on CC???

Hope it is the first one! :P

Out of curiousity, what percentage of kids get off the waitlist? a bunch of my friends got waitlisted :/

Well no one knows for suree, but rumor has it that 5% of the entire graduating class is made of students who got off the Wait-List. Hahah whatever that is.

Source: Some random article on NU’s website.

But I think that there will be around 200 this year, give or take some :)
