Now that it's November... Who's ready for Winter 2013 Transfer Decisions?

They're sending out decisions around November to December so we should be expecting them to start within the next two or three weeks!

haha more like the last day before January
checking the mail box era day.
keep reloading the unofficial transcript, but i dont think I will see a change because im a bothel student

Does anyone know what specific period the UW starts sending out responses? November-December is pretty vague. Anyone who applied for Winter quarter in the past years remember when they got their acceptance/denial?

from what i understand, transfer decisions are lowest priority.
Further more UW is generally a month late, they expected to be done by November and mail out their letters, however you can expect that to mean December.

i think its easier to predict for winter decisions because there is a break between the quarters, and people wanna go home to see their families, so they cant really get done between that time. At the latest I would say acceptance letters get mailed 2 weeks before winter break, and rejection letters get mailed the week before.

Rejection letters are almost always a week late.

also, from what Ive observed, there seems to be two notification periods for acceptance.
The first is 3 weeks before the end of their time frame for notification (early december), and its normally the people who are for sure in.
The second is 2 weeks before and its the people who they are iffy on.

but who knows, they were almost 2 months late letting autumn transfers know this year.

The bad part is if you get rejected and have to appeal, the time before learning the decision on your appeal may include the next quarter and you could miss the first week of school.

UW knows they’re the top school in WA and almost everyone’s first pick so they dont mind being late.

I called them today and they said that they send them out in batches, so once a decision has been made on your application, then they send it out.

Pretty vague, but I agree with vevenaneathna, people have to go home for winter break starting around the 10th so they have to send it out before then. Last year as I recall from the decisions thread, it was mostly around Thanksgiving.

I’m transferring from SCCC and my unofficial transcripts loaded TODAY! This is a for sure that I’m in, right? It shows student ID, major (it says pre-social sciences, but I think that’s only because I can’t declare Political Science until I register), and Junior standing. I hope this means without a doubt I’m accepted!

Yes, it means just that.:)

YESSSSS! so excited!

Congrats Seattlem! When did you send in your application? Does anyone know if the unofficial transcript changes for people who have already been accepted in the past to UW bothell/Tacoma, as in does the transcript change to say “UW Seattle,” etc?

Called again today and they told me that they’re just starting to send out letters.

I sent the application august 3rd or something… As soon as it opened. My transcripts don’t specify which campus but I only applied to seattle, so can’t help with that one. Good luck!!!

Thanks! And that’s probably why you got your decision early, I applied right before the deadline haha.

Do you mind posting your stats?

“Does anyone know if the unofficial transcript changes for people who have already been accepted in the past to UW bothell/Tacoma, as in does the transcript change to say “UW Seattle,” etc?”

Most likely it doesn’t. I was accepted to UWB first and then to UWS. The difference was about a week or so. My unofficial showed “Bothell” for a pretty long time.

really mediocre, but it proves they really do look at the whole picture and not just numbers.

I’m applying from a UC and I only had 45 credits at time of transfer, but I’m a resident and my GPA was pretty good for a four year university so I’m hoping they take that into consideration.

Woo congrats!

A friend of mine also got in yesterday (unofficial transcript)! I forget whether he got into the microbio or biochem department, but woo!

Seattlem: (or anyone else who might know) Hey! I applied for Winter Quarter as well this year. I was curious what you meant by your unofficial transcript being loaded? I know you can go to your unofficial transcript link, but are all your classes loaded from your community college and that’s how you know you’re in? Congrats by the way!!!

The unofficial transcript page will just have a bunch of 0s. The actual stuff being transferred in comes later. Basically, if it changes from an error message when you click the unofficial transcript link, to a real page with your UW student ID (7 digits, not your UWNet ID), class standing, and major (or pre-major), you’re in! I got my letter today, two days after the page changed. Good Luck!

Question, what does SPECIAL PROGRAM: UNIV EXT mean? It says that on my unofficial transcript and could it be because I did running start through my HS where I was taking an course from them? Thanks! And good luck to everyone. :)

Yep. If you attended the UW in the past (any campus) then your unofficial isn’t an indication that you have been admitted.

Oh okay, cause I thought it meant I didn’t apply as a transfer and wanted to do one of those like evening programs. But, does the unofficial ever change or will I only be able to find out through the mail?
