you guys... this is really nothing.. it was sent by BERKELEY SUMMER SESSIONS, not ADMISSIONS. as we all know, summer sessions programs spam the hell out of everyone they know, including applicants. they make their money that way.

what i've noticed from CC is that people seem to be always definite & right about "everything." some go as ridiculous as to say they are more knowledgeable because they have x number of posts.
to give an example... "I'm not surprised to see you have only 64 posts. You'll learn.." this coming from a senior member of cc.

it COULD be a likely e-mail. you can't dismiss it as nothing, unless you have worked in UCB admissions before.
and it's just ridiculous how people are dissecting letters to prove something that they aren't sure about.

Is there anything about this in the posts from last year?

I got it too, but I doubt it means we're in, even for CC it seems like too many people got the e-mail.

I am pretty sure, about 103% sure, that this email is not a likely letter of any sort. Why? Because I'm an OOS applicant with low stats...and i got this email...

For all of you worried that you won't get into Berkeley.... my brother got in last year with a 1600 out of 2400 SAT.

OHgiraffe - And what about those of us that applied for EECS? Keep worrying, people :)

I don't really think it means anything, rejection or acceptance.

"The staff here at Berkeley Summer Sessions want to wish you the best of luck with your application and let you know about an exciting summer program we have for incoming freshmen."

They acknowledge that the application isnt finished, provided that they wish luck (where else would you need luck?). They are simply informing you of a summer program that is available for incoming freshmen, and may not apply to everyone.

In my opinion the language was obscure enough not to be anything. Why they send it before decisions is beyond me.

I also got this e-mail.

I got in as a Frosh admit last year and I never received this e-mail. And it wasn't due to clerical error, I'm sure, because I got pretty much all the other correspondence from Cal.

I think liana is right. And besides, you'll know in, like, a little over 2 weeks. This isn't that important.

Can someone just call admissions and end all this speculation?

i thought someone called already saying that it meant nothing.. i don't understand what we're still debating

hahah i knew it didn't mean anything in the first place, now look ! look how many people i fished !! LOL

yeah....i got the email too, im pretty sure its just an ad....

I'm sure everyone got one. I'm not excited.

I didn't get one...:(

^And my stats are better than that idiot's above.

The email doesn't mean you're in. Summer Sessions posted a note on their website:

"Please note: receipt of any correspondence regarding the Freshman Summer Session is not an indication of acceptance to UC Berkeley. Accepted students will be able to register for the Freshman Summer Session through MyBerkeleyApp after March 29th."

Thanks, editrice! I'm glad they finally cleared that one up...

Still dunno why they sent the email BEFORE we were accepted, but whatever.

thanks for the clear up, i know it had to be nothing, but it was funny my email was also blank accept the subject line and i clicked reply and everything was written.
I still don't know how that person fixed the problem in the email.
P.S. When is UCLA decision day (April 1st, on there site it says late march?)
Any sources would be great!

Yah I knew it didn't mean anything. Oh well!
