I"m trying to decide between Emory and Michigan. I was not granted preferred admission to Ross. So it's a hard decision! I know that I'll get into Emory Business but I don't know if I 'll ever get into Ross. What should I do? I love the sports at Michigan but the weather at Emory is hard to turn away.

Dearkonstantine, I am not sure what gave you the impression that you will get "better attention" at UVa. Statistically speaking, the two universities have similar sized classes and identical resources. In terms of Political Science, UVa is not as good as Michigan.

This said, I would definitely urge you to go to UVa because it is your dream school and it is definitely a great university.

Michigan really needs to improve its OOS tuition and financial aid. It's so sad to see that we're losing such great kids because of poor aid. How do they expect to raise the quality of the student body with such bad aid packages?!

I totally agree... so many students who have been accepted to ivies and place like that who claim to want to go to Michigan, but are turning it down because of poor aid... and especially with Michigan's enormous endowment, this is disgraceful. This is really limiting Umich from maximizing the potential of their student body.

Michigan is my first choice but with the cost for OOS tuition and zero aid given I don't know if I'll be a UM next year (maybe the other UM in Miami - they made it very reasonable for me to go there).
I have a couple of weeks left to figure it all out.

MichWoman, I definitely agree. My preferred college list went something like Stanford, Brown, Michigan, and Penn. Rejected from Stanford, and waitlisted at Brown. I would love to go to Michigan, but Penn is offering a considerable amount of money that Michigan would ever give to a OOS student in my financial bracket.

I realize that Michigan is a state university and they have to cater to the students in their state (Berkeley/UCLA gave me a similar zero aid spiel), but it really is disappointing.

Accepted: Johns Hopkins, Cornell, UVA, NYU
Waitlisted: Columbia
Still waiting: UMich.

How ironic! I never got a deferral letter so I don't think I was deferred from Umich. I applied early Jan. and I should have heard by now. Anyways, I'll have to decide before Umich tells me since I need to send deposit soon to get I-20 business going (My current I-20 expires soon). Therefore, I guess I'll have to send the deposit to Ithaca

You applied late bseo. You should have applied in November at the latest. But Cornell is a good school, so it doesn't matter.

Well Michigan came to the plate...albeit a little late in the game...

got offered an LSA Scholarship (makes up for the horrible aid I got previously)

I think if they had decided earlier/sent out notifaction before the other schools gave out decisions, it'd hold a lot more weight.

I really like UMs combination of proud alumni, amazing athletics, research, and academic intensity.

Alexandre, how would U of M tell the decision to me? Is it through Wolv. access? or they will tell me via mail (or email)?

If it is an acceptance, Michigan will let you knwo vie mail, but you will be able to check it on Wolverineaccess.

Looks like U Michigan is my last chance for a decent education in the US (im international btw)

rejected: caltech, mit, utexas-austin, harvey mudd
accepted: clarkson (partial scholarship), USF
waiting: U Mich, NUS (in singapore)

And i might apply to UNSW in australia if i get rejected from both UMich and NUS. I got deferred at UMich, and dont know if i will get in; my stinkin 460 in the verbal might be my death sentence.

also, deadline for application at UNSW is 30th April. Should i wait for my umich decision first and see if i should apply? will i get the decision in time for at least 20th april?

ps: im from thailand, i think it takes a long time to mail here from US
