Now we Wait!

My son really loved his visit to Miami. We've told him that after having received his IU acceptance - Direct Admit Kelley....with a nice scholarship and in-state tuition....he has to be accepted to Miami Honors for us to consider it seriously. So.....Looking forward to announcements in December!! Good luck everyone!!

Good luck to your son as well! Miami’s my alma mater and I can’t help but be a little biased : ) Can you remind me how this works? They announce who was accepted into Honors in December, right? Will they also announce scholarships at that time or is there another step?

For those that applied for Early Action admissions and the Honors College, do you find out Feb 1st or mid December?

buckeye, My understanding is that Honors admits are offered in 3 cycles. My son was hoping to have a shot at the harrison scholar program, which must be applied for in the first (11//3) deadline. There are two later deadlines. If you are accepted to the first Honors wave (Harrison or not) then you hear right before Christmas. They have several automatic scholarships that you either qualify for or not…based on grades and tests. I thought that the process was more confusing than the process at IU. IU has a very easy app and if you apply by 11/1, you qualify for all scholarships. Miami uses the Common App and then a Miami supplement for Honors. It requires several essays and again, there are numerous deadlines dependent on what you hope to be considered for.

aglages, my understanding is that if you applied by the 11/3 deadline for Honors, you should hear in December. It’s tough to wait after you already have an IU Kelley acceptance in hand.
I’m a Kelley grad, but my son loved the size of Miami.

My daughter did apply by the Nov 3 deadline, so I guess we find out sooner than I imagined. She also applied for Harrison, but I guess you don’t find that out until much later.

Unless something has changed, you should know about Harrison in late December.

I just checked the website and it said that you find out if you get a Harrison by Dec 22 — but you don’t find out how much money it’s worth until late Feb. They say you are guarranteed the cost of in-state tuition, but some kids get more.
