<p>Just out of curiosity, but if you retake a NP course for P/NP option, will those retake units count toward your P/NP units again?</p>

<p>Say the NP course was 4 units. You retake the course for 4 units P/NP and Passed it. Would that be 8 total P/NP accumulated units or just 4? </p>

<p>My friend is retaking a class and I been telling him it'll just count as 4 p/np units since he failed the course the first time.... He insisted that it'll be 8 P/NP units since on BearFacts it stated that he has 4 P/NP units taken, but 0 P/NP units passed. Anyone know so I can pass on the message to him?</p>

<p>He has used up zero p/np units, since he has not earned any. The limit is on units, not on attempts. If he passes the class, he will move from 0 to 4 p/np units from the viewpoint of college limits on different unit types for degrees.</p>

<p>Thanks, I’ll pass that on to him. Anyways, do you suggest that he re-take the class even though he doesn’t necessarily need it? It’s CS61A and I think he has no intention to major in CS anymore.</p>
